Pitch / Hit Location per Batter

Post by WDaniels13.1 » Thu Jun 17, 2010 8:41 am

I really have grown to love iScore over the past two summers. One feature I'm looking for is the ability to see the location of each pitch for an individual batter. This is good info to show the ladies as it helps them understand what pitches work better for them. Is there a way to get show this info provided pitch location is tracked?

Welcome to the board.

Pitch location that is batter specific is not an iScore functionality. It is on FTM's list of things to do from other requests but I am not sure where it is on the priority list.

Thanks. This is a feature that would put iScore over the top, imo. 8-)

I agree with WDaniels... I got iScore because it had the best pitch charting interface, and fell in love with the full-game scoring. Now it just needs to get the fine-grained analysis for pitching...

1) Pitch chart/sequence per at bat.
2) Some count analysis: On 1-1 counts, you've thrown 15 balls and 2 strikes, and it appears you're throwing 15 curve balls and 2 fastballs. Hmmm... you might want to go away from your curve on 1-1, since you're missing them.
3) Similarly, "walk" analysis... What is the pitcher throwing on 3-2 counts versus 3-1 or 3-0 counts... where is he consistently (maybe) missing when he has 3 balls on the batter?

Overall I give iScore a 9.5 out of ten, and know that with ongoing enhancements it will continue to lead the pack. Paper "books" may disappear before long. :-)

Some of the analytics that you are asking for are not exactly pitcher specific. Depending on the team or game, the pitch selection on a particular count can be made by the catcher or coach.
