Live stats Scoreboard display

Post by scorebug » Fri May 28, 2010 5:30 am

Take this as kind feedback ... you need to seriously consider some major changes with your live stats feed. Here is why ...

1: You are wasting too much room on fancy graphics, the idea is to keep things simple and informative.

2: If you maximize the use of what is on the screen you can come up with some real nice results.

SUGGESTIONS

Change the layout of the scoreboard so the user can see the visitor lineup on the left, home lineup on the right.

In the lineup areas, include number, name, position. Also include how they are doing for the day (2-3) When you put the mouse over how they are doing let it show a simple description of what they have done in the game ...

1: Ground out.
3: Single, RBI.
6: Flyout.

The top of the centerpiece should be the line score, in this element, get rid of the boxes as this seriously limits the amount of space for longer team names, one team name I can't put into the complete box right now is Immaculate Conception (an Illinois high school). Also, at the end of the line score, consider putting R-H-E-L not just R-H-E.

Under the scoreboard, you can have a box that is cut in half, one side would have current pitcher stats and the other would have the current batter stats ....

PITCHER
SEASON W-L, Sv, Current ERA
IP-H-R-ER-BB-SO
PITCHES: Balls, Strikes Total Pitches

BATTER
SEASON AVG, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB
GAME STATUS: 2-3, Groundout, single RBI, Flyout.

Under the side-by-side boxes would be a nice large space for play by play. Like the MLB Baseball Information System, keep the descriptions brief and clean for the user to read ...

Jones struck out swinging.
Johnson singled to left-center field, advanced to third on a throwing error by Kelly.
Jackson grounded out, Henderson to Hollingsworth, Johnson scored.

And, if using the LEAGUE MODE, allow for a scoreboard of other LEAGUE GAMES being played that one can also access those live stats feeds.

Thanks for considering this major re-construction.

I assume this is all in reference to what iScore calls "iScoreCast"...

..just want to be clear, for those reading

...iSocreCast is not intended to be a "live stats feed"..

iScorecast is more simulated game re broadcast (real time or delayed) .... envisioned by FTM as a way for some one (like a distant family member or grandparent) who can not make it to a game, can 'watch' a simulation over the interent...

...stats for a specific game or team or player are viewed on the handheld, or distributed after a game by email (HTML and/or Excel) , or most robustly posted on a Team Web site (if you subscribe to that additional item).

I think he has a pretty good idea however.

You may not necessarily need to reformat the whole iScorecast window, but it would be nice to see more stats shown. Maybe clickable buttons that bring up team stats during the game or something.

For those that have team websites, we may be able to do something with links to the stats. For those that don't have a team website, the data would not be available online. The iScorecast itself does not keep stats, but links to the Team Website stats pages may be a possibility in the future.
