Strikeout on a foul bunt

Post by brokris849 » Sun May 23, 2010 4:42 pm

Great program. There are a few things I see missing from time to time and many of them are reported here as suggestions. This is my first post and I just finished scoring an entire high school baseball season with iScore and things worked great.

I will say that it works a little slow at times, but I get used to the delay.

I have a few suggestions, most of which involve foul balls.

1. Bunt K - Add a feature to the strikeout section that is a foul ball on a third strike when there is a fouled bunt attempt, which is officially recorded as a strikeout. Perhaps put this at the bottom with the dropped third strike option.

2. Foul/Runner Going - Add a feature by tapping a runner's number on base to indicate he was running on a foul ball. This is specifically useful for play by play, which would read "foul, runner going" as it does for most professional play-by-play services.

3. Don't automatically add four pitches for an intentional walk. In high school, you can save a pitcher's arm by automatically walking the batter without throwing a pitch by simply telling the umpire and sending him to first. Currently, hitting intentional walk on the "in play" option adds four pitches. If pitches are actually thrown, this is not an issue. If pitches are not thrown, it throws off the pitch count.

4. Add intentional walks to batter's stats. They are listed defensively for pitchers, but not separated for hitters.

5. Is there an option to change ERA configuration to 7-inning games (or other number of innings). Currently it tabulates according to 9-inning and the adjustment has to be made manually on the Excel or CSV files.

Thanks for the help. Great program.

brokris849, I find that mine lags after a lot of data events like inputting a roster or rearranging a roster pregame. I find the program stops lagging if you shut down the iTouch/iPhone and restart. That clears the memory and the program doesn't lag. I have done this between innings and the reboot completes in time.

#5) There are a few threads about this. To sum up, the ERA is calculated on 9 innings. The ERG stat is calculated on the number of innings of regulation you set when you start the game (the Options screen when you set the lineup). If you set it for a 7 inning game, then ERG will be the stat you are looking for.

For #1, we have this on our enhancement list already, but is low priority since statistically it is nothing more than a strikeout. If you just want to see text in the play by play, you can alway add a note that says "bunt foul".

For #2, similar to #1, there is no statistic that is tracked for "runners going", so if you want to see it in the play by play, you can always add a note and it will appear there.

For #3, we have plans to add several "preferences" in the future where you would be able to set whether you want intentional walks to add 4 balls or not (different rules in different leagues).

For #4, we list them for pitchers and not batters right now because Intentional Walks are a defensive strategy, not an offensive strategy, but we will add it to the list for future enhancements

For #5, as noted, if you set your number of innings to 7 for your games, the ERG stat is exactly what you are looking for.

Thank you for the suggestions.
