More Stat Catagories pls!

Post by Agray37 » Thu May 13, 2010 4:21 pm

First and foremost I would like to say that this is an awesome app!!! I have some requests though.
1. Please add RISP batting average as a calculated stat.
2. I would also like to see LOB in the player's stats.
3. Could you please put ROE and RFC in the players stats.
4. And lastly if you could freeze the top line of the stat sheet so that as i scroll down through the stats i can tell what catagory I am looking at (like freezing the top lines of an excel sheet) that would be awesome!!!
Thanks for your time and consideration!

This looks like one you can add to the Excel spreadsheet or any spreadsheet program you import the CSV to. We would assume SO% is just Total Strikeouts / PA.

Yes, it has been easy for me to calculate using a spreadsheet. I just would love to have it on the website stats.

@treading water. there is a practical limitation of what stats FTM will add to iScore, they tend to need to be "universal" highly "standard use", (otherwise Sabermetrics folks seem to have an unlimited number of "great ones") . one man's rating may not be another. If this rating you use is very widely accepted as a standard, providing references may help lobby it on to a short list. but it will be an uphill climb i am afraid to add non standard stats

I think the Player Rating is a pretty widely used stat. I know I've heard in mentioned every year when the discussions start in the MLB about who should be the MVP. I wouldn't consider it an obscure stat. It is much more widely quoted than RPA. I like it because it does a good job of combining all the offensive stats into a single number.

Can you give any references to an "official" player rating stat? It seems there are many when we do a search on Google, and none seems to be the standard. If people want to include references to widely accepted sites that show some standard calculations, we would be happy to look at them. Showing something from "somerandombaseballrelatedwebsite.com" is not going to have the same interest as something from ESPN.com, MLB.com, SportsIllustrated.com, etc.

Keep in mind some formulas are copyrighted / proprietary, and is probably the reason they are not included on these major sites, and we would not want to infringe on those rights either.
