iScorecast enhancement

Post by Bryan D Shepherd » Sun May 09, 2010 8:05 pm

When a substitution is made, instead of the play-by-play just saying "Substitution" how about adding to the script what sub was made. Example: Pitching change is made, have it read "Substitution. Joe Snuffy now pitching."

Are you referring to the Play by Play or the Pitch by Pitch? The Play by Play actually does list the substitutions. The pitch by pitch does not because the space is very limited without making variable sized rows. The problem is that in youth leagues, you will often have many (5, 6, 7) players changing positions or subbing every single inning, and trying to show that in the pitch by pitch listing would be overwhelming. On the play by play (where you are viewing on a computer screen instead of the device), there is a lot more room so you are not overrun with the sub information.

EDIT: I see you are referring to the iScorecast in the title of the message. In that case, the field and lineups actually reflect the current players in the game. It is intended for "watching" the game, and seeing the "current state" of the game. In the future, we will actually allow jumping around in the playback --- so you would be able to click on an inning or pitch, and see the screen updated with who is in at that time.
