Pitcher Changes in Score Card

Post by Rix » Thu Apr 22, 2010 8:08 pm

When I score a game, I put the number of the pitcher to the left of the inning number, then when a replacement come's in I'll put a line through that number and add the new pitcher's number next to it, and put a notch on the corner of the batter in which the switch came.

Maybe I'm missing it, but in the score card I can't tell when a pitching change occurred and what pitcher went in when.

Thanks,

I'll second Rix's request for the pitcher number to the left of the inning number. I know I can refer to the other scorecard to figure it out but it is nice to have it on one page and the pitcher is a significant detail.

There is a purple line drawn across the batter with a diagonal line in the corner any time a pitching change occurs.

The purple line is a nice feature and clearly marks the pitching change. It would be nice to add the current pitcher and the substitution pitcher to the top of the column to the left and right of the inning on the scorecard. I.E. 25 4 12, with 25 being the pitcher who started the inning, 4 being the inning number and 12 being the pitcher who came in at the purple line.

What happens when multiple pitchers come in during an inning?

I hadn't really thought about that prospect, it happens but I assume not often, but still needs to be considered. As an alternative could the substitution pitcher number be added above the purple line, I.E. ___________25?

On the scorecard, the pitchers are listed in the order they appear on the last page, so it should be pretty easy to reconcile that to the order of the purple lines. We will continue thinking about ways to improve this even more. Thank you.

Ok, makes sense. This is probably a more individual thing for me since I usually don't track pitch location, therefore I don't refer to page 3 often. Thanks for the consideration though.

I guess the issue for me is more in girls softball, where all 12 girls get to hit while only 10 get to field. So you wouldn't have a "traditional" substitution. So it gets a little confusing track when a pitcher came in and left.

I do see how you have it, but you have to flip from one page to the other in order to see the substitution. That's why it was just easier for me to mark on my old paper score card the pitcher's number at the top by the inning. Never really had an issue - I could usually put in 4 (2 an each side of the inning number). The only time I would have an issue would be when you'd bat around and you'd have to go to the next column and have to write in the same inning number on the next column. But that hardly happens.

The reality is the iScore system is effective - it just might be a little more user friendly to have the pitcher number on top. It's something I could definitely live without though.

2cents..

haveing the pitchers number on the main score page would be nice.

idea, put incoming pitcher number in purple text in/on the purple line,
Sounds like one way to clarify, Matters not how manay come in in an inning. each purple line gets one , example
----in#25-----
--- in#00----
----in#12----
