Why no hit data in play-by-play?

Post by Rix » Tue Apr 20, 2010 9:24 am

I joined up one of our teams for a team web site and was noticing that on the play-by-play for the game there was no information on the type of hit or the strength of the hit. If we go through the effort of putting the information in there, shouldn't it appear there?

Otherwise then why is the information requested?

It would be nice to show up in there. Just a suggestion.

Thanks

The Play by Play is meant as a quick recap of the game, and adding those details would make the Play by Play quite wordy. We do intend to add those details to the Pitch by Pitch, and the detail DOES show up on the Hit Scatter Chart --- the scatter chart being the main reason for entering the information. The type is designated by the type of line drawn (dashed for grounder, solid for line drive, curved for popup or fly ball), and the strength is designated by the thickness of the line.

We will continue looking for ways to make this data useful in other ways as well.

Thank you.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am very impressed with the very active forums and was a primary reason for my buying not only the iPad version, but also the iPhone version and hooking up one of our teams on a web site.

To that end - for our middle school team there are 3 "leagues" if we can call it that. There is a series of games for only the 6th & 7th graders that the coaches have set up - non-league more just for practice. I placed those games in a "League" so that they would count on their own apart from the regular league play. Then there was the pre-season warmup games that I also created as another "league". Now the regular season starts and I have those games listed as their own "league" game.

What I notice in the "Settings" option, on the right, it has an option to "Default League" and below that "Guest Selectable". I was assuming that this would allow a guest to look at stats, and then choose from a drop down menu whether to view "ALL" league stats, or view stats per individual "league". Is this how it's supposed to work?

It would be nice if this worked this way, since it would allow the coaches to quickly take a look at the stats for the players based on the league they played in, or view all cumulative stats.

Thanks in advance for the great product. I have already recommended it to a few people and I will try to get the school to get it for all their teams (I think they have 8 baseball/softball teams including the high school).

Keep it up!!!

To get cumulative stats, you need another league ("All" or some such) that you put every game in. A game/team/player can be in more than one league.

Yes, that is how the "Guest Selectable" option is intended to work. We made that option available in Settings before it was ready. We will try and get it functioning in that manner very soon.

Great.

Another item - on the iPad - when you look at a team, then click stats, it shows you the stats for the team with all games. I have a team that is in two leagues (I set up different "leagues" for pre-season and non-league games). It would be nice if when you went to the team's screen, then clicked on "League" - you would only be able to see the stats for the league that is selected, without seeing all the games.

Don't know if I explained myself well. Just basically a short cut way of looking at specific stats for specific leagues.

Keep up the good work!

If you go to League Manager, you can turn off any leagues you do not want to see data for. The currently active league(s) in league manager filter stats and hit charts.

I did, and it was still showing the stats for all games. Let me try it again with the update that I'm downloading now and see if it changes.

thanks for the quick response.

Sorry...I didn't really follow what you were saying.

I think it might be quicker if you can do it directly from the team screen instead of having to travel up and down each time between team and league control panels.

Thanks.

We may offer a way to select leagues from the player card in a future release.
