iscorecast . no batter on 0-0 count

Post by OhioTex » Thu Oct 20, 2016 7:27 pm

on iscorecast the batter figure displaysAFTER the first pitch (ball or strike).. the batter does not stand in BEFORE the pitch on 0-0 Count. It is just empty. Most noticeable when batters changing sides and a pitching change. , the screen switches in recognition of the batter side change, but no batter in box, .. would expect the batter to be drawn in on the 0-0 count .

Thank you for the suggestion. Scorecast has always worked this way and the issue is we have chosen to wait until we have "correct" data for a batter rather than displaying the wrong batter. On the scorecast, we do not know between batters what is going on - substitutions, adding batters to the lineup, pitcher warming up, etc. So rather than display incorrect data, we display the data that is sent when it is included in the pitch. You can always view the lineup of the teams to see who is expected to be coming up next.

Re: iscorecast . Redraw batter Icon sooner "on 0-0 count" (future.feature.request)

I assumed always been that way.

Don't want to be argumentative. But your explanation of 'waiting' does not make sense to me. I don't see the benefit of not following the natural sequence of events. A batter almost always enters the batter box, before the next event (foul strike ball hit out) . Even if the next out happens before next pitch . Why wait to put batter in box till after the event. We score what we see, why not display what we see and expect? the more 'wait' the more you woukd want a batter figure drawn on the screen in the batters box.. To know the program is working and to send a visual signal if things have changed.

I get waiting on data, and inherent time lag in broadcasts. But The moment you change the text on screen to next batter name, Even flipped sides of screen if change from lefty to righty ..or half inning change. you could draw next person standing in the bater box, and viewer expects it . Sure batter name may change, If person subs, and that is natural

..to be clear, i agree not a big deal when next action is a ball, strike or foul and same batter stays up to bat ... but when the next action is a first pitch hit or out. the batters box stays empty despite the event and the visual optics are off .

My two cents ..
