Need to change batter with another batter

Post by brentwalker » Thu Mar 11, 2010 5:15 pm

Ok so I have a bit of a dilema.

I misread a players number (#1) while in the on deck circle and put him in the two hole. He completed an at bat. Then latter in the lineup the real #1 came up to bat. Too many events transpired for me to go through the undue process to fix my mistake so I put in the actual number of the no. two hole batter (#2) as this batter in the 7 hole.

How do I fix this now that the game is over? These two players were never substituted for and should be a clean swap. I want to credit the correct batter with the correct at bats.

Any ideas ?

Making booboos like this during the game is the most difficult part of using thus app. Sure would be nice if there was an easy way to make gametime corrections. I even looked for play by play and couldn't find it. Things happen so fast that before you know it you are two batters behind trying to fix your problem, only from then in trying to play catch-up

I know, I know, dint make those kind of mistakes and it's not a problem. But the thing is it happens very often during one play or another.

Any ideas anyone for a quick and easy fix?

This is not a problem at all... just go to Game Manager, select the game, click on Pitch by Pitch from Game Info, and touch the Game Starts event. There will be a button there to edit the starting lineup. Swap the players in questions, and all plays / stats / etc will be updated to reflect the correct player.

Ok, I'll try that in just a few minutes. But how could I have done this while scoring the game? I find it difficult to make corrections when mistakes are found during the game. It usually happens or I find the problem after three or four batters have had an at bat. That is too much information to remember to try to undo it all, make corrections and then redo all of what was just undone.

Making "in game changes" is what is difficult. maybe there is an easy way to make these changes during the game but I am not aware of them.

I'll try your suggestion above now.....

Yes, that worked, GREAT thanks.

Now I'm trying to correct one more thing. In the top of the 7th inning with two outs, the runner at third tries to take home on a booted ball by the third baseman. Booted towards short stop. There was a major collision at home and the umpire threw runner out of the game for apparently not trying to avoid the collision. Looking now at the scorebook it showed the caught stealing as between 2nd and 3rd not 3rd and home. So I wanted to fix that.

Now following the same steps above I found the exact play in play by play and I click edit on the runner from third. Problem is that all bases are grayed out except third. I cannot select caught stealing home. Whats up with that?

Can you tell me how to fix this problem?

Just a note, the umpire made a very bad call, both were trying to do their job, catcher trying to catch a throw that was a bit off and the runner trying to slide around the catcher however both decisions by each player caused them to go into each others paths. Anyway, trying to score the out I selected out caught stealing home.

To make the original change during the game, you would have just gone to Misc->Show Starting Lineup, and swapped the two players there.

For the second scenario, for the next release, we have made it so if you mark a player out at a base they were already safe at, it shows the out as if they were heading to the next base. For the current release, we had only done this specifically for pickoffs. So you don't need to do anything to fix the issue... it will automatically be reflected in our next update.

Not sure why I didn't think to try that. I guess I figured that all of the data entered was entered against the "named" batter and all of that data would move when moving the batter. Guess it is actually entered against the batting "hole" or AB#.

Thanks, I am getting better at using the app and finding greater and greater value.

so on the second issue, that will get fixed automatically when we get the next app update. Great!

Thanks as always for being so responsive.
