Re: Stats.xls not formatting properly in Excel
What is not working correctly? We have another user that confirmed they were able to open the XLS fine with Excel 2008 on the Mac. See this post:

Any ideas on what might make yours different?
@jdonato - if you are reading this, did you have to do anything special to get it to open on Excel 2008 for the Mac?
Thank you.

Re: Stats.xls not formatting properly in Excel
Hi slinthic
I am using Microsoft Excel 2008 for Mac, version 12.1.7
I just tried opening the file again, and it does without any problems. The labels are formatted with a cyan background, averages have three decimal places, etc. Everything looks as I believe it should.
Can you give more info about what is happening?
On another note:
FTM- I have tried to open the same file with Excel 2004 for Mac with converters installed (borrowed mac), and was unsuccessful. Something about a Parse error and not valid xml file. I can open any other 2007-2008 file with that machine.

Re: Stats.xls not formatting properly in Excel
I am also using 12.1.7 excel on mac (although I am on a PPC mac not an Intel mac, I dont know if that would make a difference). The stats.xls file is clearly not opening properly as there is no formatting. It just shows the contents of the complete xml file in that structure.
Can you possibly spit out a csv file, that way no matter what spreadsheet software you have you will be able to import it?

Re: Stats.xls not formatting properly in Excel
We are adding CSV support to version 1.70 (our next release). It will not have the formatting that the Excel export has, but you will get the raw data.
Thank you.

Running MacBook Pro (intel), Mac OSX 10.5.8, Excel 2004 (11.5.6) and most current ISB as of 12/31/09, never a problem exporting game stats in .xls.
With install of ISB 2.41.67, export to .xls, Excel returns dialog box "HTML Import Errors, Strict Parse Error." It then presents another dialog box, inviting it to be opened as text. Excel then opens the file as some form of internal Excel code. I'll provide the file direct and offline for Tech Supp to inspect.
As noted earlier, also no success in broadcasting Tweets with the same version of ISB. Possibly related?
Best!

Yes, please email us the XLS that was exported and you are having trouble opening to support@fasterthanmonkeys.com.
We believe it has been determined that iScorecast must currently be enabled for Tweets to go out. The reason for this is we initially used Twittercast as a method to announce the iScorecast games (so people had a way to know when and where to go to view the iScorecast). We will be making it so iScorecast being enabled is not required for the next release. In the meantime, if you enable iScorecast, your tweets should go out.
Thank you.

Re: Stats.xls not formatting properly in Excel
I have tried opening the stats.xls file generated by my iScore sent via email in both the Mac version of Excel and in the Windows version. On the Mac the error message says something about a parsing error, the file cannot be opened. On the Windows, the message says the "stats.xls" file is in a different format than specified by the extension. It gives me the option of opening it anyway, which it does without the background colors, but formatted correctly is a spreadsheet with multiple worksheets. I have iScore ver. 2.41.67. I believe my Mac version of Excel is Office 2007 running on a new iMac with the latest OS. My Windows version is also Office 2007 running on XP.

Re: Stats.xls not formatting properly in Excel
That is correct... the Excel does not do the background colors. It just has the data in the grid, and you can format it any way you like. For Mac machines, as noted by another user in this thread, it appears Excel 2008 is required. For Windows, older version will work as well.
You can always open the CSV files in any spreadsheet for Mac or Windows as well. This is the solution to use or anyone that can not use the Excel format provided by iScore.

Re: Stats.xls not formatting properly in Excel
Anybody running Open Office? Normally I can open .xls files, but I tried opening the stats.xls and a text import box comes up? It asks what character set and the separator options? If I stick with default settings I get a bunch of gibberish like this:
<Cell><Data ss:Type='String'>#</Data></Cell>
<Cell><Data ss:Type='String'>#</Data></Cell>
