Can you go back to a previous AB when tracking pitches?

Post by kennon27 » Fri Jan 29, 2010 7:05 pm

Is there a way you can go back and look at a hitter previous at bat while keepin track of pitches? For example, I'm a pitching coach so say I'm using this and we get the leadoff hitter out in the first inning and he comes back up in the 4th inning and I don't remember what I threw him. Is there a way to go back and look at those pitches previously? I just downloaded this, but I didn't see how to do this. Any help would be much obliged. Thank you.

interesting question ... another good idea for future enhancement list

technically you can review any pitch location information via the pitch by pitch cabability, but as that requires you to exit out of scoring, and is a small display ....it is not practical while scoring a live game..

as you probaboly know there is a icon under the speed wheel that shows all picthes for a pitcher, would be nice if that was a three way toggle, blank, current batter, all for pitcher.( or provide another icon to do that). perhaps number the balls to know the sequecne 3-1 for third inning first pitch to batter. 3-2, 3-3 for the second and third pitches in the batter in question.

I am also a pitching coach and would like this feature! I am doing it manually on a chart while my wife scores the game on the iTouch. The problem I see is I don't have the time to score the game, i just want to keep the pitching stats for our team. Is there a way for me to just keep that? My wife can track the pitches, but she sometimes doesn't know what pitch it was. I love the idea of being able to track fastballs, curves, change-ups and their position. I review this in between innings with my pitchers, but they would love it if it was a graphical feature on my iPhone! Question is how can I then save this for later use or somehow merge it with the rest of the scoring being done?

We do not currently have a way of merging data like that. We have long been thinking about allowing separating of duties (one person scores game, another tracks pitches), but it is not currently a short term item.

I guess I'll have to play around with the pitch tracker which I haven't used yet. If there is no easy way to track and then use the data while in the middle of a game, I may have to just keep doing it by hand. We didn't use the pitch tracker last night, but can you edit the tracker after the game? If we could do that, then I can reconcile any mistakes by the scorekeeper with my manual sheet.

To tag on. Maybe the player card would have a tab right after hit chart that would show pitch chart? On it it would show pitch locations of all pitches thrown (this game, last 5 ABs for team we play more often?) and which ones the batter looked at, swung and missed, hit, etc... Color-coded? Or if the type of pitch is color coded, maybe some other discriminator.

We could then quickly see what he has hit and what he hasn't without exiting the scoring. That way when a batter comes up I can see where he has hit and what pitches he likes and doesn't like just by bringing up his player card.

Good suggestions for adding the pitch chart on the player card.

As for tracking, many people both score and track pitches within iScore. You can not currently go in after the game and change pitch information, though it is a great idea, and we will add it to our priority list.

With a little practice, it is not hard to keep up with the scoring and the ptiching at the same time from the device, but we can understand with you being a pitching coach that you will probably want to focus on things other than scoring during the game.

If the scorer is tracking pitches and locations could that data be used batter specific? As we can see a batter spray chart for hits for a game could we also see a pitch scatter chart? I think that is what he is asking for and the data is available but I don't know if another window can be added.

We have several options like this on our list for future updates. You can not currently view a batter specific pitching speckle chart, but we have enough information that we could generate it. It's just a matter of prioritizing with all the other requests we have outstanding.

Thank you.
