earned and unearned run calculation on FC new pitcher

Post by OhioTex » Fri Aug 08, 2014 10:18 pm

Had an ERA scenario pointed out to me that iScore appears to mis handle
- B1 reaches on error
- B2 strikes out
- P2 relieves P1 as pitcher
- B3 reaches on FC (R1 out 6-4)
- B4 hits 2-run HR
- B5 grounds out 4-3
Result = p1 0 Earned runs , p2 2 Earned runs

however, MLB rule. 10.16 (g)
When pitchers are changed during an inning, the official scorer shall not charge the relief pitcher with any run (earned or unearned) scored by a runner who was on base at the time such relief pitcher entered the game, nor for runs scored by any runner who reaches base on a fielder's choice that puts out a runner left on base by any preceding pitcher.

It would seem by rule, p1 gets an unearned run and P2 gets only 1 earned run

(unless I am missing something elsewhere in the rules..)

I have found iscore does a better job than i can do on my own on earned and unearned runs. This one scenerio was pointed out by a scorer who was trying to stump iscore. The other scenarios were handled well
