Scoring A Run On A Force Out To End The Inning

Post by jphollis » Sun May 25, 2014 3:19 am

Why does iscore allow a run to score from third when the 3rd out is made by forcing out another runner?

Example:

Bases loaded two outs. Batter hits ball to 3rd baseman who steps on 3rd base to end the inning.

I think I know how to score this and I understand the program sequencing, however, twice now, I've tapped the "Held Up" button for the runner at 3rd before tapping the "Third" button (the "Home" button is preselected). Doing this scores the runner at 3rd. (Technically, the program says I'm holding up the runner at "Home" which makes no sense.) Once I finally get to enter the runner on 2nd as being forced out at 3rd, shouldn't the program disallow a run being scored by the runner at 3rd?

Is there an easier way to score this than showing the runner safe at first (fielders choice), holding up the runner on 3rd, and then scoring an out (force out) of the runner on 2nd?

Fielders Choice is correct.
Runner at third should be: Home->Run Not Scored.

The program needs to do something with that runner until it gets to the point of finding out where/if the out was made.

Thanks. That definitely helps.

I do think it would be better if the program did not allow for something that should not be allowed to happen (i.e. - runner scoring on an inning ending force out). However, I appreciate the quick reply and the proper scoring instructions.

Cheers!

I'm with Jim on the suggested change to the program. I had a similar thing happen: bases loaded, one out. Batter hits into a 6-4-3 double play. I scored it: Out, Ground Out, 6-4-3, runner at 3rd..I scored as "indifference" which resulted in the run scoring, then I showed the runner going 2nd to 3rd "held up" , runner who was on 1st "out at second", "forced out" and that ended the sequence. Two innings later, I noticed that the runner who was on 3rd showed up in the run square for the inning. I was able to correct it by going back to the play in the narrative section and editing; one of the choices was "run didn't score" which I chose, and all was well. I now know how to score this. But it would be better if the program could be changed. Cheers again,
