Copy Existing Teams

Post by deanhoyt » Fri Jan 24, 2014 11:50 am

I am trying to find an easy way to copy existing teams into a new season.

With high school season starting, I want to start a new league for this season.
We will play all of the same district teams, so it would be nice to re-use them.
I don't want to re-use the exact same team, just make a copy of it.
That way I have last season's team, and this season's team.
But then with the new copy I can get rid of the graduates and others that left, add new players, and keep old player's stats.

Any ideas on how to do this?
Am I over complicating this?
Is there a better way of doing this?

Unfortunately . There is not a fast way to duplicate a team

Variations on this idea have been suggested before and I believe on support's radar for future consideration

The admin web site may give you some ways to save some typing using cut and paste but I think for now the easiest way to duplicate a team may the manual direct build of teams.

Am option you may consider on IOS devices , for opponents is to move players to inactive status on roster .

I also keep stats for high school and summer legion ball. Since we can't copy a team I found that if I add a team abbreviation to the players last name it helps to find the same player to add to the different teams. So if the team is Arlington then the players name would be John Smith (Arl).

I also tried to set up each town/team with their own league but have too many players in already to go back and fix easily. And because it sorts the leagues as "or" I still get too many results.

Although the team abbreviation makes a big difference you can't search for it. Seems you can only search starting with the first letters, not anywhere. Hope this helps a little. If you have any other suggestions let me know!
