Hi,
I'm new to baseball and to scoring and I have not been scoring errors during the game. My son is in first year live ball so there are heaps of errors.
Today I went back into the "pitch by pitch" of the game and changed some "hits" to "errors". The iscorecast shows the correct error count and the "play by play" also shows the errors but the boxscore still shows zero errors.
Anything else I need to do?
Thanks, Sam.
Boxscore not showing my pitch-by-pitch corrections
Re: Boxscore not showing my pitch-by-pitch corrections
Welcome
It should all 'match up'
To help figure this out, first clarify .. are seeing the discrepancy on your device or a 'team web site'..
With phrases like 'box score' and 'play by play' it sounds like you are referring to 'games page' on the team site web page. ...
If so the next question is.., what does the 'game info' screen show on your handheld device ( game manager> select game> game info )?
game info screen line score should reflect your pitch by pitch edits , if correct then perform an "option > export" again to update team site. See if that fixes.
Report back what u find

Re: Boxscore not showing my pitch-by-pitch corrections
The box score online will only show the errors if you have defensive players at the positions that the errors occurred at. If you do not have a defensive player assigned to a position then there is no stat assigned to an actual player and the box score will not see it.

Re: Boxscore not showing my pitch-by-pitch corrections
Thanks for your earlier response OhioTex.
Thanks also to Support... Indeed - with 9 or more field changes per innings I have not reasonably been able to put anyone in any position except 1 (P).
So that's the reason. I understand, but the inconsistency between the two is a tad annoying - I will update the public team web site to advise others (the coach especially) where to look for errors.

Re: Boxscore not showing my pitch-by-pitch corrections
@ support... The line score on top of game info screen 'counts' team errors even when not assigned to an individual player (aka player =?).
so Why should the line score in the box score on emails or on team web site not do the same and match ? Sounds line a programming opportunity for future consideration..
@ sam2095
I would encourage you to assign your players to defensive positions each inning. Especially for youth ball that rotates heavy. B/c Playing time and position can then be tracked.. Which is often a big discussion point in youth ball. player cards can then report player position and innings .... also at the end of play by play for each game (on team web site) there is a nice grid reportimg who played where and how many innings.
If your youth coach pre plans defense rotation, you can pre enter the expected defensive player position by inning from the initial game line up screen options ( you can override when scoring if player position changes)
Also , something you may want to consider if you do not know or want to track opponent, you can create generic position players for your opponent -eg generic catcher , generic secondbasemen, generic SS , generic xyc .. You can then see what positions you are hitting as well as errors

Re: Boxscore not showing my pitch-by-pitch corrections
I cannot see this as an option. I am using Android 4.1.2. Is this iOS only?OhioTex wrote:... you can pre enter the expected defensive player position by inning from the initial game line up screen options...
Thanks, Sam.
