Using two devices
Using two devices
I am a little confused how to use two devices to score my sons baseball team. I have been using my ipad most of the season but now would like to use my ipad as well. I have the app on both devices and they are both registered to the same email. I went ahead and transferred all the data from the ipad to the iPhone using the iscore web site. All good so far. Games and player data are now on the iPhone as well as future games. How do I now go about using both devices at different games and have data transfer between them both. I saw something about data mapping and merging but did not understand how to make it work.
And secondly if parents want to watch games on iscore cast I need to give them both device ID's and let them no which one i will be using on a given night? Or is there a way to link two user ID's to eliminate this step?

Re: Using two devices
To transfer games between devices, you will want to use data sharing as described here:
http://iscoresports.com/baseball/kb/faq ... _share.php
You said you created future games already which is something we do not suggest doing for many reasons. In your specific case, it will cause an issue when you try and data share the game back to the device. Data sharing only shows games that do not already exists. So you will have to delete the game from the device you are transferring to before you can data share it again.
For the iScorecasts, you can create a custom Scoreboard that includes both your devices, then send a link to that scoreboard to people. Log in to the Admin Website, then click Scoreboards in the upper right to create a custom scoreboard.

Re: Using two devices
Thanks for the response but I am still unclear on the process. Are you saying I need to delete the rest of the schedule for the season and then put them back one at a time as the games are being played? And to make sure and only have them on the device I am scoring the game on? Easy enough to do although since I unusually arrive right before game time having the games already inputted was for convenience and times sake.
And then if I do it that way after each game what do I need to do to make sure each device is current with all the seasons stats? Data sharing will then transfer the scored game to my other device and update the season stats? Sorry but I want to be clear and not lose any of the stats I already have.

Re: Using two devices
OK-- just went through the sticky thread with the data sharing info and read the whole thing. Think I have a better understanding of the whole thing but want to be sure. First I now have identical data on both devices right now. I don't need to go ahead and delete the future games now. I just need to delete them when I want to data share a game I have scored on one device to another correct? In other words the boys have a game tonight and right now it is scheduled on both devices. The process I would use if I score on the iPhone would be to score the game, then do a data export to the website. Then delete the scheduled game from my ipad and do a data import. I would then see the game on my iPad and add it to my season stats. Do I need to do mapping or merging or will it be obvious how that is done?
And one other question-- I thought I saw on the thread I mentioned you can now share data between an iPad and a iPhone with Bluetooth? I no longer need to export to the website? I can do it directly between devices?

Re: Using two devices
Yes, you have it correct. You will not need to do any mapping/merging since the data was already copied from one device to another. That would happen when two people have entered the same players on separate devices. And yes, you can use Bluetooth.

Re: Using two devices
Sounds great. Will give it a go tonight.
Re: Using two devices
Happy to report it worked flawlessly. Very easy to score the game on the iPhone and then transfer it between the two devices using Bluetooth. Only wish I hadn't waited so long to put the app on my iPhone. And of course that it was a universal app and didn't have to buy it twice. Small price to pay for such a wonderful product though.
Re: Using two devices
I used an Ipod for a long time then just switched to an Ipad Mini. I completed some games after the fact that were begun in the Ipod. It's now conflicting with each other on my scoreboard, which includes both devices. At this point, having transferred everything to the mini, should I delete all the games on the Ipod? I may give that device to a team next season in my league to encourage Iscore usage...

You can remove the iScorecasts that you do not want on the scoreboard by following the instructions here:

If you are talking about the specific "Scoreboard Feature" you can add to web sites,
you can edit the configuration on which devices it pulls from .
(from my.iscorecentral.com http://sb.iscoresports.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
