Extra innings runners

Post by Sgsox » Wed Jun 12, 2013 6:30 am

Last night, the game went an extra 3 innings. I had never seen it happen before but the ump started each half inning by putting runners on first and second. I had to "skip batter" seven times so as to get the right kids "reach on BB" before the first pitch was thrown.

I got around it, and hopefully they can lose the rule and just play baseball in the future, but is there a way to put some runners on to start an inning?

(There was talk that we would start the inning with one out ... Yikes... Apparently other leagues do that.)

There is a tie-breaker option that handles starting an inning with runners on base. You can find it under misc - tie breaker. Usually you start with a runner on second, but I have seen where they put runners on 2nd and third. It would handle 1st and 2nd as well (or probably runners at every base!)

If they start with one out, the easiest way to handle that is to end the inning after 2 outs and just add a note.

This is a fairly common tie-breaker scenario.

Another option for handling starting with one out is to change the game settings to start with 1 out (do this before starting the extra innings - i.e. undo 1 pitch if needed, change setting, redo)
Its probably just as easy to use misc-end inning after 2 outs. Although, sometimes the tie-breaker rules also call for starting with a 1-1 count. This can also be handled in game settings, so if you are making that change anyway...

Hope this helps.
