Default to Fly Ball

Post by PPPadre » Fri Apr 12, 2013 7:29 am

Using v.4.03 on my iPad. I have noticed this spring (with the recent updates) that when I score a popup/fly out that iScore now defaults to popup. I didn't notice this before, and the guy that crunches all the numbers for us after I score a game wondered how we were getting so many popups.

Fly balls are much more common than popups. Could you maybe switch the default back to "Fly Ball?" I know that statistically, there is no difference, but it would be much more accurate in the play-by-play and the iScoreCast to have the right thing marked. In the thick of scoring a game, especially if there are runners tagging up, I don't always remember to make the extra button push. I know that you can go back and edit, but that means I'd have to search through how many hundreds of events in a game? You guys have done an excellent job of minimizing button touches, it just seems like defaulting to the more common situation (fly ball) rather than the exception (popup) would help out greatly in reducing touches/inaccurate play-by-play.

Really love this product. Thanks for everything.

We will add this suggestion to our enhancement list, but it seems the default of pop fly vs fly ball could be argued either way. At young ages, popups are probably preferred as the default over fly balls. Keep in mind that iScore is used across all ages of players, and there is no one group that is more prevalent than another.

I would support changing the default to fly ball.

I vote for fly ball. Could you possibly set this as an option?

OK, we are changing it (back?) to fly ball by default for the next update.

Just updated earlier this morning. Noticed at this afternoon's game that the change had been made. Thank you so much for your responsiveness and quick action on this.

I too want to thank iScore for their responses to users. I do think my request for default to "fly ball" is now relatively redundant with the new options under Quick outs. With the fly ball option given for each of the outfielders the "popup" would be the norm for the infielders.
