New Season Frustration

Post by cherrybomb » Fri Apr 05, 2013 5:03 am

I am trying to use the league/active player functions to create a new season, instead of creating a new team each year.

I have watched the tutorial video several times. I have read FAQ's and other tutorial documents I have found on the site/in the forum.

I'm frustrated.

My team was created in 2010. I create a league for 2010 and assign the team to be part of the league. In the league manager I turn off all the leagues except 2010.

Team roster is there, all is good.

Now in the league manager I create 2013. In the team manager I assign the team to 2013 (leaving 2010 and other applicable leagues checked). Go back and make sure only 2013 in checked in the league manager. Return to the team manager and enter the roster. We have had six players leave since then, so I move them to inactive. I go into each player and assign them only to the league 2010.

Now if I backtrack all the steps so that the league manager is set to only 2010 and return to the team manager and check the roster the players who I set to be inactive in 2013 are inactive there as well. Changing them results in them being active in 2013. And round and round we go. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

Help.

There is only one team, and players are either Active or not. You dont have players who are active in past seasons and inactive in present season.

Marking players who are no longer on team as inactive is correct course of action. It has no impact on their past status or stats.

From team website settings, you can choose to show or hide these players in the stats.

What specifically are you seeing or not seeing that you think its wrong? It sounds like you are on the right track with everything.

Ok, I was misunderstanding how the active/inactive worked

So say I want to review who was on the team 4 years ago, we've had a few back and forth between years. Where do I go where iscore tells me what my roster was at the time?

I'm guessing in the stats - if I hide the inactive players, but want to look at team stats on my device for the year in which they were active will it show them?

I try and just figure these things out by trying stuff, but since I have been using iscore since 2009 I have a fair amount of data and I'm scared to mess something up

Also, can you tell me the easiest place to find info on using the merge function?

Thankyou

Oh wait - I remember. I couldn't find the toggle to turn inactive players hidden when I went into the settings on the admin website, that was part of the problem.

The best place to find information on every function in iScore is in the documentation at:

Click on one of the links to the manual.

@cherry bomb

Since you have been using since 2009, you know the inactive feature has only been around About a year. Prior to then you had to make a new team eqch year. a new team each year was really your only option to maintain historical roster accuracy . ie myteam-2009, myteam 2010, myteam-2011 etc. . You can still manage your teams that way. And in fact I do, because I started my teams before th feature, I still do it that way today.

furthermore until last year , each team required a new annual web site subscription. ( new URL for each team)..
But Last year FTM created ability on admin site to re assign teams to web sites, so now you can make any team (past, present, future ) assigned to your team wb site. This I do switch annually.

I still make a new team each year , despite 9o% same roster. I do not delete last years teams players or games (ever). That way history always on device. i find that is the 'simplest' and cleanest way . The player stats are collected on player card across teams and years by leagues.

I do not merge different year teams together, as it looses some historical insights. Permenately

The merge feature for player or team works great for true duplication, not year seperation.
