Runs Allowed

Post by fdh12444 » Tue Mar 19, 2013 9:37 pm

Two runners reach base. A relief pitcher comes in with 2 out and 2 on. The first batter hits a ground ball and the second baseman makes an error to allow both runners to score. Game over. My stats show the last pitcher gave up the runs. By rule they should be charged to the previous pitcher. Can that be fixed?

It sounds like you may have changed the starting lineup for the pitcher instead of actually doing a pitching substitution. We just tested your scenario by creating a new game with Pitcher A in the starting lineup.

Pitcher A: Walk, Walk, KO, KO
Pitcher B subs in: In Play, Error, Both runs score, KO.

Pitcher A is assigned both of the runs.

To fix your substitutions so that the first pitcher is still in the starting lineup, and to sub in the second pitcher, you can follow the instructions at this link:

I tried to duplicate this sequence, but the runs are getting charged correctly to the previous pitcher as unearned runs.

Perhaps you could include the exact sequence of events or the pitch-by-pitch for that inning.

You can edit the stats by going into team pitching stats for that game and tapping on the number you want to edit.

I did not change the starting lineup. It was a simple pitcher - 1B swap. Even the stats don't add up It shows the pitchers giving up 5 runs when the other team only scored 3. If you want to check what I did wrong, the customer # is ECDF6B3EBD and the game is from 3-12-13, Calvary 2013 at Murrieta Valley 2013. It is the last play of the game.

Thanks

Looking at your data, it looks like there may be something wrong with the last event of the game, but we can not figure out what it is.

First, make sure you are on the most recent update of iScore (check the App Store on your device and see if a new version is available... 4.03 is the current version on iOS).

Second, go to Game Manager, select the game, select Play, then Undo the last play, and re-enter the error and runners scoring, see if that fixes the issue (it did when we tried with your data). If it does not, can you tell us the exact sequence of taps you are using for the final play? If it does, is there anything you can think of that happened at the game that would have been "odd"? Maybe you had things set for a 9 inning game then changed to 7 so it would end? Maybe you did some kind of edit to the last play post game in pitch by pitch editing? Something else?

I have the most recent version (4.03) I "un-did" the game to the pitch before the last pitching change. Re-entered all of the data and it still came out the same. Innings were 7 because the game automatically ended when the runner from second scored on the error. Every setting was as it should have been. Sequence for the final batter - Ball, Foul Ball, Foul Ball, Foul Ball, Ball, In-Play, Error, Hard/Grounder (to second baseman), Tapped position 4, Done. Then it asked what happened to the runner on third - Home, Error, Fielding, Yes (would the batter have been out if the play was made). Same sequence for the runner from second and then the game was over.

Calvary 2013 Pitching stats show 5 total runs allowed even though the final was 3-2. I exported the game so it is on your system. Weird huh?

OK, great. Following those steps, we can reproduce the issue. We were not doing the part about "would runner have been out = YES". That appears to be the difference. We are looking into this and will get it fixed.

For now, if you want your stats corrected, respond NO to the "would runner have been out" and things will be right statistically. Since the game ends on this play, the choice for that setting is irrelevant anyway.
