Issues with Ipad in cold weather?

Being in Atlanta, it's not an unusual thing that I have to make sure to keep my iPad cool from the heat, because normally we are sweltering. But this weekend, our first game is at 8:30am and its expected to be below freezing at game time. This is a first for me. My camera has problems in the cold, so I can only guess my iPad will too. Just wondering if anybody has any experience with using their iPad in freezing temps? And any precautions I need to take?

I've scored in some pretty cold conditions (38+ degrees), but never below freezing. Baseball was not meant to be played at that temp

The ipad never had a problem, but my fingers were a different story...its hard to push the correct buttons when you cant feel your hands!

Tell me about it! (And the ridiculous thing about it, we postponed our fundraiser golf tournament because it was going to be so cold, and then we drew the earliest game time of the day!) I have a stylus that works well, so hopefully my hands will be covered with a couple pair of gloves and some hand warmers. I'm bringing a paper book backup just in case, just wonder how much dexterity my fingers will have at 30 degrees!

While I've never had problems with the iPad, the phones, or the Nexus 7 in cold weather, something you might do is place the iPad in a large zip top bag (either 1 gallon or 2 gallon...I can't remember what I use). I use these when scoring in the rain. I would think it would help keep condensation that would be associated with the cold weather from causing issues. It also might help retain the natural heat that the battery and display produces. In any event, the touch controls will work fine through the bag. I suck out the air before sealing to get a tighter fit, but I have OCD issues and may not be needed for everyone.

I use a ziplock too during the rain, and had wondered if it would help in this case as well. I'll be using one anyway since its suppose to rain as well as be crazy cold!!!! What we do for our kids right!!!

Probably too late to order them now, but there are some gloves out there that allow you to use a touch screen while wearing them. I have a pair and they work great with the iPad. I haven't used them in freezing weather but between keeping my hands in my pockets as much as possible and wearing the gloves, I kept reasonably warm.

Yes, I'm from Houston, but I can't handle cold weather. So anything below 40 is too cold for me.

Well, I made it through the weekend. The temperature fluctuated above and below freezing for most of the morning and the temperature never got above 39 degrees all day. It also snowed off and on all day long. With the exception of almost catching my pant leg on fire on my heater I don't guess me or my iPad are any worse for wear. Never had any problem at all from my iPad from the cold. I ended up using a stylus that I'd bought last fall. Nothing special to it, I think I paid $10 for it and it rolled around in the bottom of my purse all winter long. I will say though, that is absolutely the BEST $10 I've ever spent (aside from the $10 I paid for iScore of course!).

The zip lock bag is a great idea!! You can also put some disposable hand heaters in the bag if you are still afraid of it being to cold. I have used mine in some pretty cold weather and have not had many issues, that said the "touch gloves" are a life saver.
