Syncing MLB lineups
Syncing MLB lineups
I tried to sync the lineup for the Cubs today, and the proposed lineup I was given had two LFs and no CF. I can manually adjust the defensive positions, but I was wondering if that was a bug or if the lineup syncing only updates the batting order and not the defensive positions.

Re: Syncing MLB lineups
The lineups will get synced, but the data is only as good as our sources. If problems like this continue, we will try looking for better / more sources.
The way iScore works, seeing multiple players in one position is actually not a problem --- only the first player in a position is used in this case when you start the game. It is actually expected in some cases. For example, if a team often switches between two players (say a left hand hitter and a right hand hitter), both of those players will wind up showing as the same position, but only the first 8 fielding players plus DH or Pitcher will actually be set to Batting = Yes.
A missing position in the first 8/9 players is a problem with the data source though.
Anyone that has this issue, if you could please post the date, team, and minutes before game time that you ran the lineup sync, we would love to try and narrow down any problems there may be.
The lineups should always be checked when the game starts anyway as even advance notice of lineups are subject to change --- the manager can make a game time decision to change the lineup, and no automated service would be able to pick that up before the game starts.
Thank you.

Re: Syncing MLB lineups
I just sync'd the Cubs lineup again just now (approx. 1:15PM PDT or about 5-10 minutes after the game started) and there are again two LFs listed (Alfonso Soriano and Sam Fuld) and no CF. Lineup is also way off generally, but I think a player was a last-minute scratch, so I don't fault the lineup data source for that.
