Find the error!!!

Post by triple » Mon Apr 09, 2012 6:31 am

Bases are loaded - 1 out
Batter 06 hits ground ball and reach 1st on error by shortstop
All runners advance one base -

here's how I scored the situation
Batter : in play ERROR... by shorstop

When asked what happened to runner on 3rd base, I click ERROR and I had to identified on request the shorstop as the player who did the error
Runner on 2nd : Held Up at 3rd
Runner on 1st : Held Up on 2nd
Batter : Held Up on 1st

I am not sure if I scored it right for the runner on 3rd base AND if the shorstop gets a credit of 2 errors for the play?

On the PLAY BY PLAY, I get :
. batter reaches base due to an error by shorstop
. player on 3rd scores on an error by shorstop
. runner on 2nd holds up at 3rd
. runner on 1st holds up at 2nd
. batter holds up at 1st

I think I am way out to the left field!!

Should probably score each runner as advancing due to error. So, when it asks what happened to runner at 3rd...home, error 6; what happened to runner at 2nd..3rd , error, 6....etc.

Only one error will be charged to SS. iScore understands that each event is the result of the same error.

This sequence requires a lot of button presses to score.

You were on the right track, though...

Also in general on a normal hit, runner at 2nd going to third, you'd do ADVANCED BY BATTER, rather than HELD UP. Held up I use like on a pop fly where the runner held up.

Was the error a fielding error or on the throw?

If it was a fielding error, then all runners were advanced by the batter. Only the batter reached on error.

I know that iscore will still on score that as 1 error, but seeing a runner reach an extra base on an error should be reserved for "they only reached that base" because of error.

If it was an error on the throw, again if it was to first, everyone was advanced (one base) by the batter. If they advanced 2 bases because of an overthrow, then all batters would be shown to advance due to error.

(And of course if the error was on a wild throw to the catcher, then the runner from 3rd scores on an error, but the batter reaches on a fielders choice, and all other runners are advanced by batter)

Let me ask, I've normally, when asked how they advance put down E6, for runners and even the batter when it asks what happened to them, I'll put held at first on E6...

It only gives one error but I put errors on all because when viewing scoresheet it list the E6 in base path rather than showing advanced by batter? Is this a problem or should I do it different? Like only list the error once, then advance all other runner by batter? Thanks

... and if I want to make sure I've scored it right, I have to exit from the game manager and go to the pitch by pitch page.
From there, I can do some corrections with the EDIT menu next to each play.

I wonder if there's a faster and a better way to see what was scored and if it fits with the reality and of course, with the stats

The way I would score this would depend on the exact situation. It depends on how many outs you currently have. Less than two outs and only the batter gets the base on error. It does not matter whether or not it is a fielding error or throwing error or catching error (first base dropping the ball). The reason behind this is because:

Your situation:
Bases Loaded, less than two outs (ie zero or one out). Batter puts the ball into play, SS fields it but bobbles the ball. All runners at this point advance one base by batter. batter reaches on error but still gets credit for the RBI. now, if you score all advancement in this case as an error then the batter does not get credit for the RBI because the run is considered an unearned run. If the play had been fielded cleanly and the batter was out at first he would still get credit for the RBI.

The only time that the RUN would be considered to reach home plate on error is if it should have been the third out of the inning. Because at that point the run would not have scored if the out had been made.

Hope this helps
