Substitute player from another team

Post by triple » Sun Apr 08, 2012 1:19 am

A player coming from another team (player X from team A) of the same league will play as a substitute to complete team B at 9 players.

According to our rules, the stats for player X for this game must not be cumulated with his stats when playing with is regular team.
What I do:
1. go to team B roster and click on each players that wont be playing the game (inactive)
2. than I click on the + button (add player) which will bring me to the player's list (League's Player List) from which i'll choose the substitute player
3. I select the player from the list... and here is the critical point

4. To make sure this substitute player's stats wont be cumulated with his personal stats as a regular player with is regular team, I change his name. For example,
Norman Green will be modified as follow : Sub N Green.... and I will do this manoeuvre with all substitute players during the year.

5. IMPORTANT : After the game, from the main iScore page, I click on PLAYER MANAGER and make sure to change the name Sub N Green to it's
original Norman Green, as recorded when registered to the league

My $5,000.00 dollars question : is there a better way to do that?

Changing the name of a player for a game will not change whether the player is still the same player. We keep a unique ID for each player, and no matter what you change their name to, they are still the same player. If you do not want his stats to count, we would suggest creating a new player for this person so he has a new underlying ID. The ID identifies a player, not their name.

Thanks for this fast answer.
So the best thing to do is to create a new player ID like Sub 1 which ID will be used by any player who would play as a substitute during the season.
And if 2 substitutes is needed in the same team or one for each team to play, we already have Sub 1 and we only have to create a new ID as Sub 2

If I check the Players List, I should find Sub 1 and Sub 2

At the end of each game or before the start of a new one, I will have to remove (delete) the Sub player(s) from the team(s) roster
By doing this way, do I go through the entire process?

You can add new layers to just the Lineup for a game --- you would not want to put them on the the Roster as this would treat them as though they are members of the team.

The stats will not combine in this case which is what it sounds like you are asking for.

If you want the stats to still appear on the Player Card, but not count for a particular team, then just don't put the "temp player" on the Team Roster, only put them in the lineup, and they will not appear on the Team Stats reports for that team.

To complete the lineup with a temp player as suggested, I will have to choose him from the PLAYER LIST, no?

If so, would that mean I will have to create a new ID by adding a new name on the PLAYER LIST?
Example :
We already have Joe Green, a regular player who figure on the Player List and on is regular team's Roster AND
to select a temp player from the PLAYER LIST, we will add a new player's name (new ID) : sub Joe Green which name will be used to complete my lineup

Is it OK like that??

You can select the existing Joe Green as a temp player on another team, and those stats will not count toward his team stats on his existing team, but will show on his player card (which we would assume you would want).

If you want to create a new Joe Green, that would work, but it would be treated as a completely separate player.

My question : is there a way to add a player on a starting lineup as a temp player without getting a mixed stats either on his personal player's card or on his team stats?

From this discussion, should I understand if I create a new player with the prefix "Sub" in the PLAYER LIST, I shall get along the season a couple of regular players' name with the word "Sub" before their name on the PLAYER LIST since the temp player as to be chosen from the PLAYER LIST!

Following my example, should I expect Joe Green and Sub Joe Green to be treated by iScore as 2 different players with their own personal stats?

Doing it this way and the way I understand it, it means we wont have to consider the stats of all the players with the word "Sub" before their name but at the same time, it would give us the stats of each players who had played as a temp player during the season. That would be interesting :)

Sorry to sound insistant, I just want to be sure... first year with this software

Yes, creating a new player will keep the player separate from the main player. If you want to put the word Sub in front of their name to identify those players, that is fine.
