Batter out of lineup

Post by MalloryCaldwell » Wed Mar 28, 2012 7:24 pm

This has to be easy, but I'm having trouble finding it.

I score little league. All 12 batters are in line up.

In each of last two games, some kid has gotten juried in the first or second inning. For rest of game they are not in the lineup. I have waited until they are supposed to be up, then "skipped batter" without counting an out.

There has to be a way to take someone out of the lineup for partial games. But I cannot figure it out.

Thanks for help.

Using Skip Batter is the correct way to do it. You need to keep them in the lineup spot so the at bats don't get shifted around.

What is juried and if they aren't batting then why aren't they out?

I think she meant injured and not all leagues (particularly youth leagues) require that a skipped batter is an out.

Yes. Meant injured (dang autocorrect). In "real" baseball there would be a substitution when one player goes to hospital to get their arm set ... But in peewee they are just gone bc the whole team is already in the lineup. Thanks all! M

Oh, Gotcha. Yeah, it stinks, but ya bat the lineup it's an out. Had that happen a couple weeks ago where we had two outs and the next batter had gone to the hospital. Had to just try and run the bases with the guy up before him. A rule's a rule.
