Need some guidance re calendar options

We just signed up for a team website and I initially decided to go with an embedded google calendar so our families could also link to their personal calendars. I have never used Google calendars before and now it looks like since the google calendar is private, unless they are logged into the Google calendar separately, they can't see it posted on our team website. Our iScore calendar page is password protected and I really don't want to make the Google calendar public (but maybe it really doesn't matter since there really isn't much there that can't already be found on other public sites?).

Any ideas for keeping it secure yet easy for our families to see what they need and to automate for themselves?

It really should be marked public if you want to imbed google calendar. It will solve these issues.
