Team Website customizations?

Post by teamchampion02 » Wed Jan 04, 2012 9:31 am

I'm working to set up my team's website and have a few questions & suggestions. Here is my current site --
http://iscorebaseball.com/main.php?t=te ... nfitness02

Adding New PagesI'm looking to add additional pages to my site, such as team news/announcements, video highlights, facility information, local weather, etc. Have you guys considered allowing this level of customization?

Left Nav MenuIdeally, any new pages added would be tabbed in the left nav menu. That would be soooooo sweet to be able to add pages and have them included in the left nav. Even better - allow HTML coding to make these changes.

Headers
It seems that the height of the header adjusts based upon the height of the logo. Is there a way to set this so it adjusts to the height of the background image loaded into the header instead?

Fonts
Ideally, it was be great to have the ability to choose from a variety of fonts throughout the site. The ability to designate fonts in the left nav would be especially nice.

Linking Sites - League Set upI'm responsible for our league website. Some teams within the league utilize iScore, others do not. At this time, the iScore sites seem to be single team based (vertically designed) and not reach across horizontally within a league or mutliple teams. Ideally, I'd love to have the ability to create multiple websites for all of the teams through iScore (whether they automate their stats is up to them) and have them linked together under the same league (similar to how MLB.com is set up). The user could then navigate through the league through additional menu actions (perhaps a horizontal nav), with the left nav functionality changing as the sites change. (Clicking 'Pictures' shows Team A photos, but shows Team B photos when on Team B's site, etc.)

Have you guys looking into expanding the functionality of the team sites, including any/all of those suggested above?

It would be great to get your insight. Thanks!

All of these are things we have on our enhancement list for websites. Thank you for expressing your wishes as it helps us prioritize.

To address a couple specifically:

The header height can be set in the Settings Screen - use the "Top Border Height" property and set to like "150px" for a 150 pixel header.

Leagues - if you have several teams using iScore with team websites, send us an email to sales@iscoresports.com with the name of the league, and we can set up a a "league site" for you that can track the multiple team sites under a single URL.

Is there a reason that my background header image wraps instead of remaining static or centered? Is there a way to set it up so it can be aligned left/right/center?

If not - I'd love to see it added to the suggestion box. :-)

Can you provide me with an example of a league site? I'd love to see how it's set up.

Thanks!

The background image gets tiled. You can change the "logo" in the top section, and it will be a single static image.

Here is one example of an iScore League Site:

Keep in mind that we also have an API for team website owners that are knowledgeable of HTML / web programming so you can get the data from your team website and use it in any way you like. Here is a link to the documentation on that API:

I'm somewhat knowledgeable to HTML but I'm not familiar with APIs.

My team site is currently set up under Google Sites, which does not directly support IFrames. :( How do I go about getting my API? Once I have it, I believe I can create a gadget that will allow me to pull it into my site (or so I gather from the forum boards).

Any insight would be helpful.

Log in to the Settings of your team website with your Admin password, and in the far right column under Passwords you can set your API password. Once set, use the URLs at the previously mentioned documentation site with your Team code (teamchampionfitness02) and the password you set, and you will have full access to your data as XML.

If you do happen to create any useful gadgets, it would be great if you can share with the iScore community so others can make use and/or help improve on whatever gadgets are created.

I'll definitely pass along any thing that I find.

One option I'm curious about........is it possible to have some of the menu buttons in the left nav disabled?

I'm asking this because I think I've found a solution to the IFrame issue on Google Sites via a widget. However, now when I load in the IFrame, I'm seeing almost a duplicate site with the additional left nav menu. Is there a way to turn off some of the buttons such as sponsors, calendar, roster, home, etc? Is this something I can request to have done - should I decide to do this?

You can embed the individual pages without having the left navigation items at all. If you right-click in the data area of any of the pages, you will see that there are actually IFRAMEs for each of the pages right now. You can use the URL just to that inner page to see just the roster, just the stats, just the games, etc.
