Team Website & Data Sharing
Team Website & Data Sharing
I used Iscore this past year and set up/used a team website, but cant remember what I did. I am book coach for a new different team thsi year. Questions as follows (As I am sure these are answered somewhere, just direct me to those Q/A links as appropriate)
1. What is the process for purchasing and setting up a team website?
2. Can I copy the previous website onto my new one - the formatting titles, etc. (everything but rosters, stats, etc.
3. Unrelated - but please direct me to a through understanding of using two different devices for one team (Data Sharing, etc.) - I used an iphone last year, but will be able to use my manager's ipad this year (yeah!), but may want to be able to use one or the other or both on tournament days when one or the other doesn't have enough battery power. The ipad has wifi only, no blue tooth or at&t contract/etc. Will this work at tournaments when we switch from one device ro the other? How does using two devices affect the team website. How do you utilize leagues in this scenario? If you have 2 different games, 1 on each device, assigned to leagues with exactly the same names - when data is exported, will data from the league include both games.
4. Can iscorecast work with an ipad with wifi only?

Re: Team Website & Data Sharing
1. You can purchase either from the device itself by going to Team Manager, selecting the Team, then selecting Team Website, or you can purchase by logging into the Admin Website, selecting the Teams tab, and selecting the option to purchase from there (can use a credit card with this option).
2. We do not have a way to automatically copy the styles over, but you can open the Settings page for one team, and open the Settings page for the new Team, and just type in the new values... it shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to copy the values over.
3. Team websites can only be tied to a single device. Data Sharing allows you to transfer data between devices, so you can transfer the data to the device that is tied to the website. Here is a link describing data sharing: http://iscoresports.com/baseball/kb/faq ... _share.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
4. If your field has WiFi, then you can use it to broadcast the game live. If you do not have a live internet connection, you can still score the game and just use the "i-ScoreCast Synchronize" option to send the iScorecast up to the server.

Re: Team Website & Data Sharing
If I understand #3, I could score a game on the ipad, export the data to the iscore servers, retrieve the data on the iphone using data sharing, then export he data to get it on the team website.
correct?
correct?
Re: Team Website & Data Sharing
okay - I created a new team website and entered the same colors etc that were on my previous team website - some were okay, inclusing the logo. But some did not work. But now every change I make in settings, will not take effect. If I hit save, it just reverts back to the same choice that I just changed from. If I hit test it shows my change, but then when I hit save, it is back to what was there before. What is going on here?

nevermind - now it now took effect for some reason???

Re: Team Website & Data Sharing
Yes to your understanding of #3... you can transfer the game to the device tied to the website, then export to update the website.
When updating settings, sometimes a browser will cache the old style sheet. If you completely close your browser when you have the final colors in place and re-open it, you should see your changes. You can also use the clear cache option on your browser and you should see the updates as well.

Re: Team Website & Data Sharing
With the two devices, if I create and use the exact same leagues on both devices, will data sharing, each device, and the team website properlt allocate stats to those leagues designated in each game?

Re: Team Website & Data Sharing
Leagues do not automatically transfer between the devices but as long as you assign the league(s) after sharing, the cumulative stats will work just fine.

Re: Team Website & Data Sharing
In addition to all that FTM has said..
I will add many of us use multiple devices regularly and transfer games back and forth between them using data sharing and it all works well. One tip, when sharing between disimilar devices, eg iPhone and iPad, use data sharing by web database NOT blue tooth.
Also if you have an iPhone that allows "personal hotspot", you can teather your wifi iPad to your iPhone personal hot spot and score on wifi ipad and have iscorecast updated real time through the iPhone hotspot..
