How to score this Double Play correctly

Post by GatorBoy » Thu Aug 06, 2009 12:57 pm

Runners on 1B and 3B with one out. Batter hits into a 6-4-3 DP. I select ground out then press location on the screen and then the fielders involved in the play i.e. 6-4-3. Then the software asks what happend to runner on 3B I just put held up (so it doesn't inadvertently score the run). Immediately my outs at the top turn to 2, at the same time the screen prompts me to input what happed to runner on 1B in which indicate out at second double play. When I go to the score card it has the runner at 1B forced out and the batter shown as DP6-4-3. However it shows the runner at 1B as the third out and the batter/runner as the second out when in reality it is the other way around. Can anyone quickly pop this into there application and see if they get a different result, or should I say the correct result? Or can anyone fill me in on how to score that correctly so that the batter is scored the DP and the 3rd out?

Perhaps I should not have selected ground out at the initial start of this play?

Thanks to all in advance.

We have actually had this reported previously as can be seen here:

http://iscore.freeforums.org/double-play-t122.html

It does not effect stats so we have had it in our list as a low priority, but it is there, and we will get to it in an upcoming release.

Thank you.

This is not corrected in 2.0. We had it as a very low priority item since no stats are effected. The only thing it does is on the scorecard, it shows the batter as making the first out in a double play situation, and the runner as making the second out. In an iScorecast, and in the play by play listing, it reads correctly.

In case there is anyone reading this thread I want to add that if you do not select "held up" and instead select "advanced by batter" for the runner at 3B the run will be scored even though there is two (force) outs occuring in the double play. This leads me to believe that the app is indeed assuming the 2nd out occured on the batter at 1B inturn removing the force on the runner headed towards 2B. That is the only way the run would be counted assuming the runner at 3B scored before the runner was out at second base.

That is also an issue covered elsewhere in the forum (runner on third being forced home, and having to enter Held Up on third to prevent scoring on the third out).

This issue actually has been addressed with 2.0 however as we now allow you to specify the run did not count (or you can continue using Held Up at 3rd).
