Reordering players from the website
Reordering players from the website
It would be nice to have the ability to re-order players using the admin website. What I do is set a "suggested" or "common" lineup for each team edit screen on the iPad and then I have a good starting point that I'm able to easily tweak using the lineup editor when I start a game, and this minimizes the amount of reordering and juggling of players who are batting or maybe resting that game.
I would prefer to do this on the website by dragging/dropping or something to that effect as opposed to having to do it on the iPad. Thanks for listening...

We certainly understand typing the names is faster online. But you find dragging and dropping with a mouse faster than dragging and dropping with your finger on an iPad?

This is a related comment, but once a lineup has been entered for a team on your device, you can "Option-copy lineup to Roster" and it will save your lineup for future games. If there is not much movement game to game, it should save you editing time in the future.

Actually, I do, but I'm pretty fast with a mouse/keyboard, so maybe I'm not the norm...as for copying the lineup to the starters, that's good to know, I didn't know about that, though it isn't much different than setting it once on the team page and having it use that for the lineup when you start a new game.FTMSupport wrote:We certainly understand typing the names is faster online. I guess I was just thinking out loud...perhaps I'll get used to setting them on the iPad. Thanks...

We will keep this request in mind as we continue to enhance the Admin Website as well. Just trying to understand the reasoning as well. Thanks.

Re: Reordering players from the website
Perhaps I just need to be more careful at the order in which I import the players in.
I wish I could import players in with positions in the batch import instead of just names. I suppose I could then solve my starting lineup problem by entering the starters into the editor first with "batting" set to yes for the 1st 8 guys, then everyone else, then pitchers...
Currently I have to import them, hit save, then go through each player and mark the pitchers as "P", and then go into the iPad and set the common lineup. If the iPad displays them in the order I enter, maybe I'll just pay attention to how I enter them and the original subject of this post is moot...

Re: Reordering players from the website
We just updated the text on the Batch Add screen to show other options you can use during the adding of players. You can use it to assign jersey numbers, positions, batting = yes/no, and batting and throwing hand all through this interface. The fields after FirstName and LastName are optional, but for people that have all this data available in another format, this can allow you to quickly create your complete rosters without all the extra steps.
Yes, the order you enter the players is the order they should wind up in on the roster.

Fantastic! That will save me a ton of time. More companies could learn a lesson from you guys, at least from my experience thus far. Thanks again...
