Errors not showing in box score

Post by skip314 » Mon Oct 10, 2011 4:53 am

I noticed a little quirk that I wanted to make sure you are aware of. I scored a game but did not set the opposing team's defensive lineup except for the pitcher. The errors made in the field by unassigned players showed up in the line score in the iPad app, but do not show up in line score in the box score on the website. The pitcher, who I did assign to the position made an error and that one showed up. The team made 6 errors but the line score on the website only shows one.

This has to do with where the data comes from for the website --- it comes from the "stat table" internally which is kept for each player. If you go to Game Manager, select your game, select Pitch by Pitch, tap the Game Starts event, and tap Edit next to Starting Lineup, then assign a player to each position (since you didn't care to track the opposing team, it should be fine to assign random players to each missing position), then all the stats will be updated and assigned to players. Now do an Options -> Export and your team website will show the correct number of errors in the box score.

@skip314

definitely a quirk in the team web site subscriptions..

one of the workarounds i do on occasions when i do not have / don't want to track opposing players is add generic defenders on my opponent team to catch fielding stats ( set batting = no). you can do this pre game or post game in pitch by pitch, starting line up edit, it does not matter.

I played around with different names, and my current generic favorites are .1B, .2B, .3B, .SS, .Lf, .Cf, .RF. i use the dot in front to sort together and list high in the player manager pick list. the short names work well on the screen and in play by play. one down side in having them in the line up, however is they show up in opponents batting stats and hit charts even though they do not bat

Thanks @OhioTex, this sounds like a better workaround than randomly assigning actual players to positions. Although it is extremely unlikely to get noticed, I don't want to assign errors to players who don't commit them. From time to time we share our data with other teams so it is possible for this to cause unneeded concern.

This problem is still happening. Why doesn't Quick Roster set names like LF, CF etc? I need opposing team errors to show in my box score, or people will think my scoring is deficient or your program stinks.

I will go back for the work around, but it seems I shouldn't have to.
