Starting a new season

Post by gahawes3 » Mon Apr 04, 2011 5:33 am

This is a how to question: I starting using iScore last year and love the app. I am using it again this year and started by updating my little league roster with the new kids that got drafter and deleted the players that aged out.

My question is around team stats reporting. It is reporting for both last year and this year. Is there a way to have it restart for 2011 and not use 2010 games? I assume that if I deleted all of last years games then it would work. Is that the resolution but I will lose all that history. Please advise.

This is one of the FAQ's. Take a look at the first topic in the FAQ for several suggestions.

Leagues
Leagues are great for "grouping things" like this years games vs last years games, that is really the purpose of leagues "grouping" and then the managers (team manager, player manager and game manager) only show you players, teams, games or stats for the leagues that are on. I suggest you create a 2010 league and a 2011 league. assign last years games and teams to 2010 league. this years games and teams to 2011 league. You can also assign to multiple leagues, good for players and teams that go year to year.

GAMES
i encourage you to NOT delete last years games. you may miss them later. Instead use Leagues to filter for you.
Assign last years games to a 2010 league, assign this years games to a 2011 league.

TEAMS
there are two schools of thought on "do i create a brand new team for this year or just add/remove players from team roster". I recommend creating a second 2011 team. (this has implications if you have a team web site, if so post back and we can elaborate there). there are other tradeoffs, see the board for more info or post back

Players
I encourage folks not to delete players from the Player Manager, you can remove them from Team Manager rosters, but they do not take up much space and i would not remove them from player manager in their entirety. Many people later wish they had not

I would like to create a new season and I will use leagues to do that although I use leagues to separate tournaments. My question is how do I maintain the stats from last season on our website and still add a new season?

The team website will allow you to select between your created leagues as long as you have assigned the leagues to the TEAM. Most of the time, only the GAMEs assigned to a league matter, but in the case of Team Websites, it shows the league dropdown based on the leagues assigned to a team.
