Access to own player's stats

Post by rgossard » Thu Aug 25, 2011 12:43 pm

Is it possible to enable a parent to view their own player's stats without viewing the rest of the team - i.e. giving each parent a password to view their player's stats perhaps by clicking on the player on the roster tab.

The closest thing we have is the "Player Spotlight Websites". With a player website, it shows only data for that particular player. It is an optional $9.99 add on, and the real use case is for a parent that is scoring for their child across multiple teams, and it gives the parent a way to see that child's performance across all teams they play on (or send the link to recruiters, etc). That being said, it can also be used when a scorekeeper wants to have a site specific to each player... we have had many users that have purchased Player Spotlight sites for a few of the "stars" on the team that really want to track their stats without wanting to share everyone's stats.

The free option is to email a Player Card to each of the players. The Player Card is a PDF that includes all the details for the player including Hit Charts. It requires the scorekeeper to send out the emails (as opposed to having a website that auto-updates), but it is pretty easy to send the emails.

We may add the option to specify passwords for each player's stats in the future on the team websites... it is something that comes up occasionally. One trick would be deciding what to show vs not show for all players. We could either let players (or their parents) opt in / opt out of their stats showing on the Statistics screen... it would either mean the overall "Team Stats" would be wrong if the player(s) were left out, or we could still show the Total line in Team Stats, and the numbers in the columns would just not add up as some of the players stats are hidden. There are other subtleties like this that would have to be addressed as well (player shows on iScorecasts? player shows on Roster? Player shows in Play by Play listing? etc).

Besides the player site, you can email each parent the player card for their child after each game. There is not an automatic online option other than the player site.
