We just finished our travel ball season, and I have to say, I am very happy with ESPN iScore Baseball.
The stats are great and plentiful, and the Hit Locations are useful in spotting swing strengths and weaknesses. We also went ahead and established a team web site, which was very easy to do, and now that the season is over, I've given everyone the password and they're able to get info for college recruiters and have their own fun. The scorecards and box scores are excellent too.
For our pitchers, the ability to see the number of balls and strikes game-by-game, and their overall counts -- over and above the usual stats has been very helpful too.
Finally, one of the best features: with the paper-and-pencil method, I used to take at least 3 or 4 hours tallying all the stats, balancing all of the PAs with the outcomes, and then enter all the info on another web site. Now, most of the time, I have all of the stats done, and the web site updated before we are out of the dugout -- before we're out of the dugout! THAT is awesome!
There are simply a lot of good things to say about this app!
I started out with some concerns because it seemed to keep crashing for no reason, and seemed to be a battery hog. But kudos to the support guys: I was using it on my smart phone, and D-uh!, when the phone is on, it's using a lot of battery too! Airplane mode solved the problem.
I also found that the 'auto rotate' function of the screen seemed to be the problem with nearly all of the crashes. Once I was able to turn that feature off during games that problem all but completey disappeared.
Finally, what can I say about you guys in support? You have been very helpful, very patient, and very fast. Thank you for all of your help.
As for possible improvements:
It would be helpful to be able to see what the hitters have done that are due up in an inning, or later in the line-up, while the inning is underway -- without having to go to the scorecard, which takes WAY too long when you're in the middle of an inning.
Thanks for putting out a great product! Keep it up!
