Stats PDFs

Post by webshowpro » Thu Jul 07, 2011 7:31 am

One thing that would be nice is to have a "full game" PDF - that has both scoresheets, as well as the full stats all bundled together as a PDF. I've run into some ail filtering issues that limit the attachments. It would be nice to have the option to have everything for that game delivered in a single PDF.

It would also be nice if all the stats had the option to be generated as a PDF (in addition to the HTML/CSV) that they are currently available in. I've got a coupel coaches who almost exclusively use their phones for personal email - the stats are nearly unreadable to them. PDF would make it easier on them.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Can you describe more how stats as HTML are not readable on a phone, but stats as a PDF would be readable? It seems in either case you are going to have to zoom in/out to view as much data as there is.

The html on some phones gets distorted so the columns don't line up - the long lines wrap so a single row becomes several. The coaches are using slightly older blackberries - I believe the browser on those phones uses a proxy that "optimizes" the html being delivered to phones on the network.

With PDF it would have to be scaled obviously (and the file size would be larger), but the individual rows would not be prone to wrapping.

Additionally if the stats are also PDF - everything regarding a game could be sent as one big bundle - rather than several separate attachments. It would make it slightly easier, since you only would need to open the PDF viewer.

To work around this, I have been manually emailing them to myself, printing them as a PDF then resending the PDF stats and scoresheets to the coaches.

I highly recommend you look into team web site subscription, it pushes a ton of the administrative burden out and off. i started emailing after every game, and then once teh team site got up and running, they preferred it.. more data, more access etc..
