tagged out how to record

Post by GBear11 » Wed Jun 22, 2011 6:21 pm

Not sure how I would score this with iScore.

This is for fastpitch softball, but think rules & use of iScore would apply to baseball as well.

2 outs, runner on 3rd. batters hits grounder to pitcher.
pitchers throws to first baseman, who drops the ball and lets it get behind her.
batter crosses first and instead of turning right to be out of play turns left and actually takes step towards second as first baseman and right fielder are getting the ball.
Batter now starts walking towards first. first baseman who now has the ball tags her for the 3rd out.

how would I record in iScore? Would the runner who was on third and ran home count as a run?

I recorded as out and chose other as my choice, run not scored. Thinking through it now there are better ways I could have done this, but I would like to get some other viewpoints on this.

Thanks

Ball in play. Error on first base. Seperatelly, runner out at 1st tagged out by forst baseman.

Sounds like batter reached on error (e3) and run should count.
Once the batter-runner touched first base, the force is off. run scored or not becomes a timing play.. If the runner from third crossed home before the tag on the runner returning to first ( my guess given yiur description). Then the run should count.
