Ok one more weird situation that happened this weekend, that I did not know how to score.
Close game, runner on 3rd with 1 out. 2 strikes on the hitter. Hitter intentionally swings at a pitch in the dirt and runs to first in order to force a throw and score a run. Does he get an RBI or is it a stolen base? Is it a wild pitch or past ball even if its fielded cleanly by the catcher?

Re: Dropped 3rd
can't say i have seen this live, nor seen an official scoring case for it.
I think it will involve some scorers judgement. curious others thoughts.
but looks like iscore can handle it however you want to assign it.
the simple part should be to credit the strike out to the pitcher and hitter, Ks
If the batter is out at first, then mark out > drop 3rd, 2-3 (credits catcher assist and first with put out)
If the batter is safe at first, then put him Safe > Wild Pitch (since ball in dirt) credits pitcher with wild pitch allowing batter- runner to advance.
now the tricky part, runner at third, and to credit an RBI or not.
if in scorer judgement it was a straight steal before the pitch, assign runner home on stolen base. (no RBI to batter, SB to baserunner)
if in scorer judgement, runner advanced because of the wild pitch, assign home > WP (won't double count in iscore stats)
if you think runner advanced home, because of batter, choose that and batter gets the RBI. (runer does not get the SB)
sounds like this was a strategic heads up play by batter and then just responsible running by runner, if so, feels like he sacrificed himself like a bunt, in a Sac bunt he would get credit for the RBI, so why not now. Unfortunately for batter in a Sac bunt he would not get a PA but not an AB, but here batter does still get the Ks
that is my two cents

Re: Dropped 3rd
I think this is one of those situations where the batter will not get due credit for a smart play. I would score it as a swinging K with the runner advancing on the throw. I don't think this is an RBI situation.

Re: Dropped 3rd
so if on the throw, (not on the WP) .. no RBI for batter and no stolen base credit for the runner.. just heads up plays by both batter and runner and more importantly perhaps a winning run?

Re: Dropped 3rd
I think that's how I scored it, swinging k on dropped third strike. The run scored on the throw. I was just curious how others would score it.
