Make UI for iPad and Androind tablets the same

Post by jblanken64 » Thu Jun 16, 2011 11:43 am

I've got both an iPad2 and an Asus Transformer tablet, with iScoreBaseball for both. The iPad version was obviously designed for the 1024x768 screen, but the Android version seems like a blown-up phone version in many areas. My Android pad has a higher resolution than the iPad2, but doesn't look nearly as nice.

In addition, I've noticed that the PDF output of the scoresheet isn't quite the same either.

you are correct, there is not a Tablet version iScoreBaseball on the andorid platform. the only tablet version is for iPad at this time. FTM is evaluating the pro/cons of doing an android tablet version, but with the number of hardware variations out there, it may not be as cut and dry as doing the iPad version

so you know, the 'phone' versions have the same functionality and can operate on the tablets in 2x mode and can exchange data through data sharing with other devices and platforms.

That said, the tablet versions are more than just higher resolution, they also take advantage of the extended screen real estate to provide more information on the screen at once (basically 4 phone pages on the screen at once). More information at a glance.

I highly recommend using the iPad version when you can, and a phone version when space and hands are limited.

That is correct... there are differences. We intend to update the Android version to support tablet devices in ways more similar to the iPad. One of the major issues is that there are several tablet sizes in Android, so coming up with something that works for all of them would be a challenge. Chances are we are going to be focusing on the major tablets (Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy are the two top sellers right now), and if other tablets happen to be the same dimensions, they will be able to take advantage of those updates as well.

As it stands, the Android version scales up to whatever size tablet you have, but the interface matches the phone layout, only larger.
