Multiple Feature Requests

Post by fordfan485 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:28 pm

I score games for my Coed Softball league and have the following requests to make scoring that game easier:

-Option to start out with a 1-1 count.

-Set the number of courtesy fouls allowed ( my league allows 1) and allow foul out for 3rd strikes.

-Set a HR limit. Once both teams have reached their HR limit; either team may hit an additional HR. No team
is ever allowed to go up by more than 1 HR against the opposing team. The first home run hit over the limit
will be declared an out, the second and any subsequent home runs will end the inning even if a team has not
reached three (3) outs. If the opposing team hits a HR to pull the HR limit back to even then both teams start
the over limit home run count at zero. The home team is not allowed to go 1-up in the
Bottom of the 7th inning or if time has expired.

-Slaughter Rule (customizable) Our league uses:
a. Twenty (20) runs after 3 innings
b. Fifteen (15) runs after 4 innings
c. Ten (10) runs after 5 innings

Misc Enhancements

Here are some of my general feature requests:

-Foul tip option in the 3rd strike box.

-Currently on scorecards pinch hitters have a "-" in the pos column. Would be nice to see PH instead.

-Currently when you have a pitching change a horizontal line appears between the boxes. A vertical line would be nice for a pinch hitter or substitution.

-When making substitutions for pitchers make it so when adding them to the game they are already added on offense.

-When making substitutions have the list of players in alphabetical order by last name

-Some kind of screen to make double switches faster.

-When viewing statistics after a game is completed show only the stats for the players that played in the game. Could care less about the players that didn't play and would make the tables easier to read.

-When selecting popout/flyout the current default is to popout. Would be nice for this to be defaulted to flyout or have the option to set the default.

-During an atbat on the screen it shows previous pitches as S B F etc. Would be nice for C for called strike and a S for swinging strike or use a backwards K and a K; just something to differentiate between the two

-For lineouts place a L or LO next to the position of the player that makes the putout.

Yes, this is the way I used to keep track of substitutes when I used paper. Now I use iscore solely. I would love to see iscore use this notation in the scorebook for a substitute coming into or leaving the game.

These all sounded good.

The two things most interesting fro me:
+1 on the Foul Tip and Called vs Swing Strike Differentiation.
+1 Pinch Hitter enhancements

To build off the Popout/Flyout request, these should really be separate buttons. Really annoying when I have a flyout and start scoring it and realize I didn't change it to a Flyout and have to cancel out and rescore the play.

The popup / fly ball is just a modifier of the same type of out (ball hit in the air). There is no difference statistically. You can edit the modifier in pitch by pitch if you got one wrong - you do not have to cancel our and rescore. On your iPad, you can just tap the play in the play by play listing and change it to a fly ball when you have a free moment during the game. On your Galaxy S2, you would have to do it from the pitch by pitch listing in the Game Info screen.

Thanks. Yeah I realize there is no statistical difference but there is a defensive difference when setting defense IMO. If the batter popped out the last 2 times at the plate you would consider defensing them differently than if he/she had flown out the last two times. So as a defensive coach it's important that these are designated properly.
Again not a big deal but an extra step on every single fly ball out to make sure you change it from pop out to fly out. Just seems like with all the current options it would be nice to have those 2 separate, regardless of whether scoring is same statistically.

Just suggesting it from an "ease of use" standpoint.
