Hit Location Charts on scoring Device - for whole team
Hit Location Charts on scoring Device - for whole team
First, this App is GREAT! I just finished my first season using it for my son's youth team and the record and information it gives me is fantastic. The team manager has been increasingly looking at the stats to monitor the games and players over the season.
One item I would like to have access to on the scoring device (I use an iPad) is the ability to pull up the hitting charts for each game (under Game Manager - in each team's Statistics listing) and each team (under Team Manager - in Team Info) as well as the existing Player Card view now available.
The Game Manager view would have to have it for each Game and for cumulative season. maybe a check box or toggle.
And while I'm at it, maybe be able to pull up the team hit location chart while in the game scoring screen by tapping the team name at the top of each team roster.
I can get the Hit Location Chart info from my Admin site, but I'd really like to get access to the Charts on the device for the whole team at once. I thought this might be an easy update to get the data in these two new locations on the device for quick reference during a game or later.
FTM, you keep improving iScore, I'll keep asking for improvements. I like this system...
Thanks again.

In game hit charts are available on the iPad by tapping the player name in the lineup. You are asking for a whole team view but I have found the individual player view useful.

Re: Hit Location Charts on scoring Device - for whole team
How would you be bringing up a "whole team hit chart" while scoring a game? Or are you talking about while reviewing data post game? In that case, you can bring up your web browser and go to the Admin Website on your device to view the Team hit charts.
If you can explain a little bit more about the use case for why / how you would use the data, sometimes that helps us come up with better solutions to things.

Re: Hit Location Charts on scoring Device - for whole team
At our ball fields, we do not have access to a WiFi network, so I don’t have access to my Admin site during the game or post game when we review the stats. It occurred to me that since iScore was giving me the hit chart for each player on their respective Player Card on my iPad, that it could also give me the team hit chart on the iPad. If the info is in my iPad, I’d like the convenience to be able to get that info without having to add in another step of having to go thru my Admin and/or Team website.
We’d like to have access to the whole team hit chart during the post game review. That’s why I was suggesting that maybe we could get a team hit chart from the Game Info screen for both teams. And possibly be able to Email that team hit chart just like we do now with the statistics and scorebook. One reason for asking for this feature is that I don’t always have access to a WiFi network and I’d like to get the hit chart data at anytime with my iPad.
Game Manager > Game Info screen > Hit Chart (for each team for that game) - just like Team Batting, Team Pitching, Team Fielding and Scorebook. Add another line for ‘Team Hit Chart.’
Also the Team Manager could provide all the cumulative hit chart data for each Team on the Team Info screen. Maybe another button in lower left, next to ‘Team Stats’ that was ‘Hit Chart’ or something similar. And be able to Email it from there too.
Team Manager > Team Info > Team Hit Chart (button?) - cumulative data based on selection(s) made in League Manager.
To get our cumulative Team Hit Chart - have to go to Admin website or Team Website.
To get cumulative opposing Team Hit Chart - can only retrieve from Admin website.
Right now in iScore, we can bring up the Scorecard while scoring a game, why not be able to also view the Hit Chart from a button or from tapping the team name - Home and Visitor?
There are times that we’d like to see the Hit Chart for the opposing team so we can move defensive players around or based on next batter lineup, who we have play certain positions for the inning. We might use it to determine our batting order or who we want to pitch.
Currently, I have to remember to save the Hit Chart PDF file and xfer it to my iPad so we can see it in GoodReader. But I have to update all PDF files before each game. Takes quite a few steps to get to the data that is already in the scoring device;
1 - iPad generates the data during scoring of game
2 - Export it to my Admin website & Team website
3 - Access the Admin website (Team website)
4 - Open the Hit Chart
5 - Download the hit chart PDF
6 - Save or xfer the PDF(s) to original scoring device to view in GoodReader
Apologies for the long winded response. Hope I’ve explained this clearly.

We will add this to our enhancement list. In the meantime, you can go to the Starting Lineup for the game, and tap on each player to bring up their player card and view the Hit Chart for the game from there if you are doing game reviews. Maybe not perfect, but gets you the same data.

Re: Hit Location Charts on scoring Device - for whole team
I love the idea of seeing the opposing team hit chart during a game...can really help a coach decide what subsititutions to make...for example, don't want to send the kid that can't catch a ball into RF if the next 2/3 batters hit there at their last at bat (or previous multiple at bats). This is the first season we have used iscore so there is no history to print prior to a game. I am also using an iPad and think a button, like the scorecard button, would be perfect!

Re: Hit Location Charts on scoring Device - for whole team
If you are using an iPad, you can always tap the player in the lineup to see the upcoming players' hit charts (tapping a player in the lineup brings up their player card). In the current version, doing this only shows their hits for games previously played against a team. A future update will make this hit chart also show the hits for a player in the current game.
On an iPhone, showing the "full team" hit charts would not be visible anyway because of screen size, but you can still view individual player hit charts on the player cards. We will look for ways to make bringing up player cards for specific players on the iPhone easier in a future release. On iPad, it is always one click away.

Re: Hit Location Charts on scoring Device - for whole team
Prior to a tournament I print the team hit charts for any teams we have faced before and give a copy to the head coach. Since iscore is mainly intended to be a scorekeeping device, rather than an in-game strategic tool, some of these options are not available during the game. In fact, some organizations (particularly highschools I believe) will not allow iscore devices in the dugout because of the analytic information it provides.
