Maybe my last clock question

Post by Daleblankenship » Thu Dec 02, 2010 10:40 pm

Is it possible to disable the game clock? It is cool to be able to split the game into periods, but the clock is difficult to keep accurate. I forget to start it and sometimes it starts automatically. I can't figure out what starts it.

I just want to track plays and stats per period, but would be fine with just having a single button or way to switch to the next period.

Thanks.

You can ignore the clock completely if you want. What you will not get is the "game flow" on the PDF that gets emailed as part of the Game Summary report, but that is up to you. You can go to the next period by double tapping the clock, and setting it to 1 second remaining and the current period will end.

We will add the idea of "no clock" to our enhancement list for future prioritization as well.

Thank you.

Having a disable on the clock would be very helpful to me too. I stat our game off of videotape and have trouble seeing player numbers so I often have to rewind. The first time I used the app I didn't realize the clock was running. I wasn't able to finish the 1st quarter of play because I ran out of time. I think I will wait until you have this feature to go back and stat my games. Since my video person can't always capture the scoreboard/game clock on video It is too time consuming to try and redo games constantly trying to match the actual game clock with the app.
I look forward to seeing a clock disable on the next update.

So, I tried to just stop the clock and it keeps automatically starting. How is that happening? Is there a certain event that triggers the clock?

Why isn't there a clock when you run it by quarter? I used the running clock this summer but high school season will have clock stoppages. When i did a practice run, i noticed there wasn't a clock- just the period. Clock would help for play- by- play tracking

The "Running Clock" in this case actually is whether the clock is visible or not. To see/use the clock, set "Running Clock" to yes in Options when creating a game, or click the Options button on the main scoring screen and tap "Show Clock".

The next update changes the text in the Option screen of a new game to say "Hide Clock" instead of "Running Clock" to avoid the confusion.
