When to update names and where?

Post by gerald_walsh » Wed Apr 13, 2011 10:53 am

I am new to iScore and am very happy with the features I've been practicing with I only have a coule of questions. I scout the upcoming games for a local high school , I also scout every team in their sectional that they might play during the year. Our baseball season starts mid-may until the end of July. Last year I did 53 games. Well my old system had a post-game pc driven fix for one of my problems. Even thou I know from published schedules that 2 teams are playing , I have no idea what players names are and what their numbers are. So

I have created 30 teams in team manager, like South Bronx, Matlin and Jonesville.
I then added 12 player rosters for each team with the South Bronx player starting with SB1, SB2, SB3 etc , the Matlin players M1,M2,M3 etc and the same format for the Jonesville team. I did this so I could identify each of the 12 prefex's and know which team that player belongs on, because they will not be switching high school teams.

So I plan on updating the visting teams player numbers when they come up to bat, but for me they will always be 1 thru 12 , so I was going to write them down and change them later that night after I had also gotten most of the names from people in the crowd. the schools know me and will not give me anything before the game starts , I generally go off of the announcer giving the line ups but I can only get the numbers at that time so I wrte the SB1 is really # 24 , then though talking to fans I get 24's name, this might take the whole game to get and sometimes I only have the number, so I would only update the number on SB7 .

I choose this method rather that quick roster add ecause they will amount to the same thing , I would alpha start the South Bronx as SB and I would endup with SB1 , SB2 , SB3 etc.

So my question is this where is the best place to update the names and numbers to do the least amount of typing, like in the game manager then save somehow to update the team rosters? or in the teams or under players or use the merge feature? So it's so long, thanks

Your system will work fine.

When in the game, use misc > show starting line up, to bring up the starting line up screen, tap a player here and add in their jersey number or edit their name.

After the game, you can do the typing in the same line up screen, but you access it through pitch by pitch in the first event called game Manager > select game> game starts > starting line up edit..

Time Saver - after all done, in pitch by pitch editor, game Manager > select game> game starts > starting line up edit.. bottom right corner is the options button and it has the "copy line up to roster". This will overwrite the Team Roster with the name and number and batting order of the game line up. Save you steps having to update both roster and game line ups.

if you have a second game (double header) already scored with the team will have to manually edit that game line up too. but if you play them again later (against your team) the team roster will be used to set up the new game with the team

Make sense? ask back if you have more questions.
