iScorecast Geo Map

Post by FTMSupport » Wed Apr 06, 2011 3:09 am

Kind of a fun way to see how people are using iScore worldwide, or to see if anyone else in your area is using iScore:

Fun

Can't wait to see Allrounder (austrailia) and Marco Rocci (italy) get wind of this.. Looking forward to seeing blue arrows in their neck of the woods.

Very Cool! Found mine, but location was way off. What drives the map location?

Right now it is looking up the location of the IP address which means it is really gong to be based on the cell tower. In the next update, we are going to allow you to turn on location services on your device if you would like, so when you hit "Play!", it can record the location of the field. We will also allow you to override the longitude / latitude manually if you know the locations of the fields you are playing at (Google Maps can give you those values).

We are also adding a way to opt out of being seen on the map. In order to be seen, you had to have enabled iScorecast which is putting the game on the internet to begin with, but there may be people that want the game on the internet, but not have it seen on the map for whatever reason.

If you do not want your games on the map, email us your customer ID and we can exclude your games, or wait for the option to be added to the Admin Website later today for self-exclusion.

This is really cool, but I just got home from scoring my son's high school game and I'm not showing up anywhere close to the area.

With the current version, we are relying on converting IP Addresses to locations, and this is not 100% accurate. Our next release is going to allow you to enable location services on your device.

In addition, we are in the process of creating a "game location setter" that will be on the Admin Website, and it will let you set the location of your field very quickly, so even without location services, you can get exact locations for your games.

That's cool! I just entered a fake game just to get a dot on the board in the Far East.
