Couple of Newbie questions

Post by sacpadre » Mon Apr 04, 2011 10:12 am

I've searched the forums and have been unsuccessful in finding answers to the following questions.

1. Is there any way to get Hit Charts for each game as opposed to seeing a cumulative hit chart for the season?

2. When looking at the Pitch by Pitch on my iPhone, I see the pitch result and location listed. When looking at the play by play on the website, I see basically the same thing without the pitch locations. Is there anyway to export the pitch by pitch with pitch locations?

For #1 - If you have purchased a team website and are willing to set up each game in a separate league, then I think you can produce hit charts by game. (This might make your leagues very messy.) I do not think this is possible on the admin website so you would not be able to do it for opponent teams.

Thanks for the reply. There are so many subtle nuances to this application, I wasn't sure if I was just missing something.
I think I'll stay away from different leagues. That could get real ugly. Might be a neat option for a future version.

1. For the Hit Charts, while the game is being scored, you can toggle between just the hits for the current game and the cumulative hit charts by tapping the area for "previous results" (where it says "1 for 2" for example). If you are talking about post game review, the Scorecard actually shows the hit locations for each at bat. If you want to see the hits for just one game in the spray chart format, you can create a league called "Analyzing" (or whatever), and put just the game you want to see the hit chart for in that league, and turn off all other leagues in league manager, then view the Player Card. You will then see just the hits for that game. This can also allow you to just look at a few games that you are interested in by adding those to the "Analyzing" league as well. When you are done, be sure to turn the "All" league back on in League Manager.

2. The website is actually showing a row for each batter (we call it Play by Play) instead of a row for each pitch (Pitch by Pitch) to keep the view condensed. Showing each pitch would lead to a huge list. We do get requests for the Pitch by Pitch listing as an emailable option (even though it would be quite long), so we will likely add it in a future release.

The league capability of the app is a powerful tool that is easy to use once understood it is easier than most think, but intimidating at first. OhioTex has done good work with a tutorial in FAQ
