Can I correct mistakes after a game?

Post by wiley285 » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:11 am

I scored my first game of the season last night. I made a handful of mistakes, figuring that I could correct them, probably at the my.iscorecentral.com website later. I can't figure out, though, how to do that. For instance, for some reason a run scored in the first inning, but didn't show up in iscore. I figured I had just failed to advance the runner, a simple fix, I thought. Now it's not so simple for me :(. Also, there was a pitching change in the middle of a batter, I didn't know then how to change it (I figured it out between innings). I made a note but can't see how I can go back now and make the change.

It seems to me that games should be editable. How do I do it?

Thanks. . .

Welcome to iscore and the forum

As a user, I encourage new users to watch the online training videos and score a practice game or two..before going out in the "wild"

Yes you can make some non game altering edits after the fact using the pitch by pitch editor, (game manager> select game> pitch by pitch > select activity to edit... Edits not allowed will be unavailable or grayed out)

You can also always go back using undo and then re score from the point of your mistakes.. ( depending on when mistake happens can be easy or time-consuming)

Some Examples of non game altering edits which you can make at any time through pitch by pitch editor...are substitutions, change hit to error, or why out. But you can not change an out to safe. That alters downstream events. Baseball has a number of interdependencies that make free form editing a challenge. There are many posts on this board that explain in more detail this topic.

As it sounds like you have not tried pitch by editor yet, I suggest you play with that for a while and see if it helps solve your immediate needs.. You can also manually override stats if that suits your needs better.

I have a similar problem. First inning I didn't so something right and I'm off by a run. I have to undo and rescore the whole thing to get it right? I have a runner on third now that all I need to do is take him home. Done. Corrected. I can't seem to do it.

You can edit the stats to give the runner a run scored by going to Game Manager, selecting the game, then selecting Batting Stats for the game and tap the values you want to override there.

As noted, you can not make edits post game in Pitch by Pitch that will change the base runners were on as that would potentially cause issues further on in the game (what if you had the runner scoring 3 plays later, what if that runner was picked off of third on the next pitch, etc). There are dependencies in baseball that cause these kinds of changes to have ripple effects throughout the rest of the game. We realize you will probably say that those things did not happen in your case, but that is the challenge of allowing edits like that is we would have to be able to account for the possibility, and it is not a simple task.

We continue to evolve post game edits, and hope to allow even more options in future updates.

I tried overriding the stats...like my daughter showed as 5 PA, but really it was only 4. It logged a Fielder's Choice for her twice...

I tried correcting it in the stats, but it won't "save" it. When I go back to the stats....it shows 5 again.

Did you edit the fielders choice to 1, then edit the PA to 4? I think even if we edit the PA the numbers tied to PA calculations need to add up.

Make sure you are on the latest version as well (v3.16) - there were some small updates to stat editing in the area of At Bats and Plate Appearances that may help.
