Depends on your league.. That is why iscore does not provide an automatic calculation.

Little league is different than major league, baseball different than softball etc

Here is a link to major league rules for baseball.. Would need to consult source for other leagues

MLB rule 10.17 http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/of ... rer_10.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

MLB Rule:
10.19 SAVES FOR RELIEF PITCHERS
A save is a statistic credited to a relief pitcher, as set forth in this Rule 10.19. Rule 10.19 to 10.20
118
The official scorer shall credit a pitcher with a save when such pitcher meets all four
of the following conditions:
(a) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team;
(b) He is not the winning pitcher;
(c) He is credited with at least ⅓ of an inning pitched; and
(d) He satisfies one of the following conditions:
(1) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at
least one inning;
(2) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either
on base, or at bat or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on
base or is one of the first two batters he faces); or
(3) He pitches for at least three innings.
NCAA Rules
Save
SECTION 26. If a relief pitcher meets ALL of the following conditions, the
official scorer should credit that pitcher with a save:
a. He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team;
b. He is not credited with the win; and
c. He meets one of the following conditions:
(1) He enters the game with a lead of not more than three runs and
pitches at least one inning;
(2) He enters the game with the potential tying run on base, at bat or on
deck; or
(3) He pitches effectively for at least three innings.
NFHS doesn't have their rules online that are accessible so I'm not sure of those rules.

NCAA fast pitch softball and baseball are the same

NFHS , fast pitch softball and baseball, adds following clarification
" starting pitcher Who is replaced and then reenters As a pitcher can be credited with the win but not the save"
