Missed multiple games

Post by dapwizardman » Fri Feb 25, 2011 10:18 pm

I missed 14 games of the season before I got my iPad. I have all the stats from those games, and when I got this app I scored the second half of the season on iScore. However, now the second season is about to begin and I want to be able to provide the players with accurate stats from all their games. I don't want to create and input stats from all 14 missed games (the process is quite tedious). Is there a way I could adjust the team stats as of now (the stats of which I have calculated)? This way from this point forth, the stats will be accurate.

You can create one dummy game on your iPad with all the players against a fake opponent (maybe call them "Adjustment"), start scoring, the use Misc->End Game. After doing this, go to the Game Info screen for this game, and select each of the stats categories you want to adjust (Batting, Pitching, Fielding). You can tap the values for each of the players and do a manual override. Any stats you do this for will be included in cumulative totals.

One thing you may want to do is create a league called "Pre-iScore", or "Adjustments" or something similar, and assign this game to that league so you can exclude from cumulative stats calculations easily any time you want.

I think this will work. One question, though. When manually overriding stats, what is the difference between recalc->yes and recalc-> no? Because when I select yes, all the stats I had entered are erased are returned to zeros. Are they still counted in the cumulative total for the players/ team?

Recalc causes the system to use the plays entered while scoring to recalculate, wiping out any manual stats changes. So you want to say "no" for your "dummy" game.

your instructions worked perfectly for the batting stats, but when i selected the Team Pitching stats, no names appear. What can I do to adjust the pitching stats?

ah.. for the pitching stats, the pitcher actually has to have appeared in the game to appear in the stats list. In the scoring for the fake game, pitch one ball for the first pitcher, sub in the net pitcher, pitch one ball, sub in the next pitcher, pitch one ball, etc... do that for each pitcher you want to pre-enter stats for. Then you will be able to enter the manual stats for each of those pitchers. You can open the game you have already used, press undo to get back to game scoring, sub each pitcher as noted above, then Misc->End Game again and make your changes.

ok...the manual pitching adjustments are more challenging. I can't adjust the Innngs Pitched. It allows me to type in a value, but after entering it, the value returns to zero. Suggestions?

Nice find... we will have to fix this for a future update. We actually calculate that field based on # of outs the pitcher has made. So we will really have to modify the # of outs in the underlying data when you try and edit innings pitched. We will put this on our list for future enhancement. Thank you.

I was trying to add stats this way as well and encountered this as well.

I think you may need to check the ER9 and ER calculations as well - shouldn't these be based on the innings pitched? Currently it is calculating these based on a whole game, not based on innings pitched.

ERA9 is calculated on 9 innings, and ERA is calculated based on the average number of innings the games being included in the calculation are scheduled for (i.e. if you schedule your games as 7 innings each, it is based on 7 innings).
