Earned runs
Earned runs
Is there a way in pitchbypitch, scorecard, or the normal scoring screen to see which runs are being scored as earned va unearned?
Re: Earned runs
It is not in pitch by pitch mode but on main scoring screen in the 'inning recap' pop up
(circle icon on bottom right with i in It)
Icon also active after the fact at 'game over' screen
The inning recap was a New feature in ver 2.80 (I think)
if you have not used it, check it out. It is great in game tool

Re: Earned runs
Thanks - I see that now and that eill be helpful. But I was actually wondering if the system somewhere shows specifically how each run is being scored. i.e., batter 1's runs is earned, batter 2's is unearned, etc

Re: Earned runs
We do not show specifically which runs are earned or unearned on a batter by batter basis --- we only track them as pitcher stats. What would be the case where you want to track whether a batter's run is earned or not earned? If you can describe a little what you are trying to do, maybe we can help come up with a solution.

Re: Earned runs
... That spurs an interesting idea/ thought, never seen it done but iscore could add in two R breakdown columns, so say Re Ru. Where Re runs earned plus Ru runs unearned = R runs scored. In youth ball with frequent errors, May be somewhat insightful to understand if someones runs scored productivity is significantly elevated by errors.. Not sure where I would rank this... But an idea
A secondary benefit, may be a interesting way to 'adjust' earned/unearned decisions if the human scorer dissagrees with the automated earned/unearned decisions.. Could go in and edit in batters stats, as that was what was seen vs pitcher stats.. Hmmm

Re: Earned runs
I don't know for sure what Paulsilas is requesting, but it seems to me what he is looking for is a way to determine the earned/unearned status of each run. If that is not what he is looking for, it is something I would be interested in! Most of the time the iScore works great in determining run status. However, there are times when I'm not sure of the calculation and would like to back check things. This is not very easy currently (at least that I've found). I would like a way to see in the scorecard view whether a run is earned or not (different shading/pattern for earned v unearned runs). To make a further feature request, it would be great to have this mentioned in the pitch by pitch section with the ability to toggle back and forth so we can correct obvious issues.

Re: Earned runs
We will add this to our enhancement list. The idea of showing on the scorecard is an interesting one. The challenge is that an earned/unearned run status can change as the inning continues (e.g.. runner advancing from 1st to 3rd on an error with 2 outs, then scoring on a passed ball could initially be determined to be unearned, but if the following batter hits a home run, it can change to earned). Anyway, we will see what we can come up with as this item moves up the list. Thank you.

Re: Earned runs
Well technically, I don't think runs can be classified as earned or unearned until the end of the half inning since classification requires recreating the inning as if the errors did not occur. So I guess you can do what you want during a half inning. I would think just show it as it appears (earned/unearned) at the time and change it as necessary. If you were to add the capability to change the classification in pitch-by-pitch, then just don't enable that until the end of a half inning.

Re: Earned runs
Thanks for the additional posts which perfectly clarified what I was asking for - It would just be nice to see how the program classifies each run, to see if I agree. Like the idea of having it on the scorecard.
