Ah, good point. I had always assumed LBE would apply to being doubled off a bag, but I think you're right. So I guess you do score getting doubled off a bag as "double play" (and "triple play" if applicable). My main point is that it's not a force out, though.

I think you are right about the force. Not sure how or if it affects statistics. Too many levels of detail to keep track of! Thankfully iscore does it for me. :)

Having the runner get doubled off won't affect anyone's hitting statistics, as far as I know. I'm sure it is reflected in the defensive statistics, though.

As far as it being a force out: There is only one situation I know of where it is important to know that this is a timing play, not a force out. That's when the runner being doubled off is the third out of an inning, after a run has crossed the plate on the same play. If it was a force out, then the run would not count no matter what. But since it is NOT a force out, the run counts provided they crossed the plate before the runner was doubled off their base.

iscore takes care of it, but FYI Hitting stat double plays and fielding double plays do not have to match

here are some rules to reference...
Using MLB as the guide... (10.02 Official Score Report)

Hitting Stats
( note: ground into (excludes fly outs, and failure to re touch)
"
10.02.a.15
(a) The following records for each batter and runner:
(15) Number of force double plays and reverse-force double plays grounded into";

Fielding Stats
(note any type outs, assuming no errors involved)
10.02.b.4-5
(b) The following records for each fielder:
(4) Number of double plays participated in; and
(5) Number of triple plays participated in.

10.11 Double And Triple Plays
The official scorer shall credit participation in a double play or triple play to each fielder who earns a putout or an assist when two or three players are put out between the time a pitch is delivered and the time the ball next becomes dead or is next in possession of the pitcher in a pitching position, unless an error or misplay intervenes between putouts.
Rule 10.11 Comment: The official scorer shall credit a double play or triple play also if an appeal play after the ball is in possession of the pitcher results in an additional putout.
