Multiple Devices to same iScoreCast (baseball)

Post by malleyjr » Thu Jan 13, 2011 12:46 pm

I am the admin device for our team website. However, there's 2 other scorekeepers on our team with their own iPad. I'm aware that each device has it's own user/customer ID #. How can we make sure all 3 devices are updating the same iScoreCast live feed? We have directed our own unique url (http://www.lvbalive.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) to point to the iScorecast for our team but I need to make sure the other 2 scorekeepers games are updating that site. Thanks!

The iscore program is not built like a "multiple player game" for multiple people to score the same game from different 'angles' and then aggregate into one singular iscorecast.
(say for For example, one person wanted to score pitching actions, another hitting actions, and another fielding action.... Or one person/device scoring home action and the other away actions - that is not supported.)

What it can do is take three different games scored from three different devices and with data transfer put them all on one admin or team web site iscorecast listing but as three different games. Note that you have to transfer (option>data share) and that is a point in time transfer not a continuous feed.

the link for a real time iscorecast is tied to the scoring device. You access it off an admin site or team web site for that specific device.

Thanks for the response. After reading back my post, i didn't explain very well. Your 2nd paragraph relating to different devices is the answer I'm looking for. For instance, you're going to score a game for our team. My device though is the admin to the team website. All of our parents go to http://www.lvbalive.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to access the games live when I score. Is it possible to link your device to the iscorecast site of http://www.lvbalive.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; when you score?.......so our parent group doesn't have to go to an entirely different iscorecast site / username login?

Only one device can be tied to the team website. For the other devices to be able to score and have them appear on the scorecast, you would need to link to them directly:

http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecast/player.html?c=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;<device1id>

http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecast/player.html?c=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;<device2id>

etc..

One possibility would be to make the initial page be a "landing page" that lists al the possible devices that could be keeping score live, and let users click the one that is actively scorekeeping the particular game.

How do I link them directly? Where do I input that url in the other devices that you provided?

We are saying you could host a web page on your http://www.lvbalive.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; site that links to the Scorecasts. We see you purchased a team website, so another option would be to put those links on the "Home Page" of your Team website. The device IDs would come from the other scorekeepers. They would look on the "Options" screen in iScore to get their Customer ID, and you would put that in place of the placeholders from the message above.

Let me try and help clarify. Part of the confusion is the answer is not as clean to the end user as you may want.. And it takes a small bit of web work (creating URL links on your home page)

Background...
Every iscore device has access to a free admin site and a free iscorecast site. Both are tied to the device Id.

Your <device Id> and password Can be found under "options>admin website" on your device (as you know).

The iscorecast menu of all games you have synched on a device can be found at URL ,
http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecast/player.html?c=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;<deviceid>
where <deviceid> is your specific unique device id

Note: this is a link to menu of all the iscorecasts available for that unigue device..it is not a link to a specific game or specific team but the device.. If you score for multiple teams, multiple games and iscorecast synch them ..they show up on the list.. ( no team web site subscription required, this is a free functionality to all iscore devices)

Workaround
So on the web site you have people go to http://www.yourteam.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
create three links on the front page for them to choose from to access the menu of games for each device

Click here for games scored by adam (device 1)
http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecast/player.html?c=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;<device1id>

click here for games scored by bob (device 2)
http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecast/player.html?c=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;<device2id>

Click here for games scored by Charlie (device 3)
http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecast/player.html?c=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;<device3id>

So as I said to begin, it works but not super elegant..

P.S.
If you have team web site subscriptions for each device, you get the ability to create game specific iscorecast URLs and then can use those for links in your web page, but since that is not your situation I will no go into that further here..
